As Dateline reports, Dana Ammons, a fifty-year-old woman who lived in Havelock, North Carolina, has been missing since June 22, 2026. Her family, specifically her daughter Katelyn Lane and her husband, have done everything they can to find clues as to where Dana might be, but there has been no hope so far.Dana was last seen on security camera footage at approximately 10:37 am on June 22, 2026, near Caballus Trailers LLC between Havelock and New Bern, North Carolina.Dateline states how Dana Ammons vanished into a highway and hasn't been seen sinceAs Dateline reveals, Dana Ammons used to live alone in Havelock in a duplex while her daughter, Katelyn, lived in western North Carolina. People go through something unimaginable when their loved one goes missing, and such has been the case for Katelyn. Not only is Dana a middle-aged woman who lived alone, but according to Katelyn, she has auditory and visual schizophrenia.Since Dana struggled with her mental health and had a medical care team, she changed her team in April 2026. According to Dateline, around the same time, Dana had also resigned from her job and stopped taking her medication. Dana was last seen on foot on June 22, 2026, at approximately 10:37 am in security footage.As Dateline reports, Dana's disappearance is being investigated by the Havelock Police Department, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Havelock Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division's Sergeant Guerrero revealed that Dana's medical care team reported to them that they hadn't seen Dana since June 19, 2026.At that time, the police had visited Dana's residence, and while they didn't find her, nothing was amiss. Since Dana was neither at her home nor reachable by phone, a BOLO was sent out. On June 30, 2026, Sergeant Guerrero was informed that deputies of the Craven County Sheriff’s Office had looked into a claim from Caballus Trailers LLC.The dealership had stated that a woman matching Dana's description had left her car at their business on June 22 and then walked away. Chief Broadwell of the Havelock Police Department told Dateline that upon investigation they learned the following:"Dana gets out at this car lot and starts talking to one of the car lot folks about looking at a truck. She started acting a little strange.”As Katelyn then said to Dateline, the car salesman who saw Dana said that she was a little agitated. He reportedly said:“She was childlike, confused, and disoriented.”Katelyn then revealed that based on what she has learned from the investigations, Dana went into the woods at 10:30 am after she was at the dealership. She then came out a while later and ran onto the highway that had quite the traffic at the time. Security footage revealed the same.What's strange is that Dana left her car, her wallet, and all her belongings along with her car at the dealership. Since Dana was struggling with mental health issues, ran randomly into a busy highway, and is yet to be found, authorities are worried something unfortunate might have happened to her.The authorities have thoroughly checked Dana's house, car, phone, and home security footage. Moreover, they have talked to Dana's neighbors, local businesses, and the people at the car lot where her car was found. So far, no foul play has been detected. Since Dana did not have many friends, it hasn't been easy to get any information on her whereabouts.They have also gone through her financial history and digital footprint, but none of them have revealed anything helpful. Authorities are also worried about Dana's safety since she went missing during a heatwave. Her health must have suffered.Katelyn and Dana used to stay in touch and be aware of each other's whereabouts through the Life360 app. As Katelyn told Dateline, Dana's last documented activity on the app was on June 19, 2026. That suggests that her phone had either died or she had turned off her location settings, something that Katelyn believes her mother did not know how to do.The authorities have no idea where Dana went after June 22, 2026, or what might have happened to her. As Dateline reports, Dana Ammons has been added to the FBI National Crime Information Center and North Carolina Center for Missing Persons databases.Dana is 5’4” and weighs 190 lbs. She has shoulder-length hair that is close to gray in color and brown eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing a white T-shirt and black jogger athletic pants, which had a white stripe going down each leg.
