A new Dateline episode has brought fresh attention to the forty-year-old unsolved case of Julianne Jaillet. When she went missing, Julianne was a mother to her ten-year-old daughter, Tammy McAdams, whose last normal memory of her mother is a day they spent together shopping and having lunch.Not long after that, Julianne Jaillet disappeared and was never found, even after multiple efforts. She was also raising her ten-year-old daughter, named Tammy McAdams, while working at a nursing home. Speaking to Dateline, Tammy revealed that at that time:"My grandparents said, ‘OK, we’re going to keep her till the end of the school year and let you work nights because, you know, you don’t have someone to watch her when it’s just you and her.'"Tammy last met her mother on May 25, and they went to Bellevue Square for shopping and spent time together, and she visited her mother's house. However, she decided to return later. Later in May, Julianne Jaillet also reportedly had a talk with her sister Margaret on the phone after Margaret received a letter that said her sister seemed to be happy, talking about her home with her boyfriend, Ian.According to Tammy:"June 1st is the date he (Ian) claims they had the heated argument."After learning that Julianne was missing, Tammy's grandparents decided to look into what had happened. They also sent Tammy to her uncle's home in Minnesota.What did Ian say about Julianne Jaillet after her disappearance?According to Tammy, as reported on Dateline, Ian told authorities that he and Julianne had an argument on June 1. According to the missing persons report, the fight reportedly took place around 1:30 a.m., after which Julianne left with one suitcase containing her apparel. Eighteen days after he claimed to have a fight, he filed the missing persons report for Julianne with the Bellevue Police Department.Two weeks after the reported fight, an unknown person found Julianne's purse, which had her ID, lipstick, a pair of underwear (which Tammy found weird), and other items on the 22nd floor of the MGM Grand Hotel in Reno. However, the hotel had no data of Julianne staying there during that timeline, which was another mystery.When police spoke to Ian two days later, after he filed the report on June 18, he gave a different account, saying he had left the house and returned to find Julianne gone. The statement was contradictory to his previous statement, where he said she left the home after the argument.In 1986, he reportedly took a polygraph test, and the results were found "inconclusive." Over twenty-four years later, in 2009, when talking to Bellevue detectives, Ian once again told the authorities he had no role in her disappearance and didn't know her location.Tammy continues to search for answers about her mother JulianneIn 2002, a Bellevue PD detective took another step in the case by sending items from Julianne's purse to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab for DNA testing. The testing helped create a DNA profile for Julianne, which was later entered into CODIS, a national database.Even though Bellevue PD has tried using the DNA to find matches, none have matched so far, leaving the case unsolved. Speaking to Dateline, Tammy said she is thankful for the technology, adding:"The advancement in DNA is amazing."Over the years, Tammy has worked with Light the Way and shared on TikTok about her mother, and to this day she continues to find out what happened to Julianne.
