Prime Video's God of War might have found its Kratos in Dave Bautista. The news first came from Variety, which reported through its sources that Dave Bautista is "in talks" to play Kratos in the Prime Video series.
If the reports turn out to be true, Dave Bautista will replace Ryan Hurst, who was reported to play Kratos earlier, before a torn bicep injury forced a shift in the production schedule. However, the casting of Dave Bautista as Kratos has not been officially confirmed by the production or the actor yet.
Though this report should not come as a surprise to fans, as Deadline reported last month that Ryan Hurst's injury has forced the production to find a new Kratos, considering he would need a long time to recover.
More on the story below.
Dave Bautista is being considered for the role of Kratos in God of War

God of War follows Kratos and his son, Atreus, and they travel together after Kratos's wife, Faye's, death to lay her ashes to rest. Viewers will learn more about their journey and missions as Kratos learns how to be a better person, and Atreus helps him see life in a different way.
Since Kratos is a powerful warrior, the actor playing him needs to have a strong and intimidating presence. When Ryan Hurst was cast in the role, Deadline reported that he gained forty pounds of muscle and trained for months to get into the right shape for the character.
Dave Bautista's background makes him a strong choice for Kratos. He is a former professional wrestler, and after years of wrestling as Batista, Bautista already has the physical presence needed to bring a powerful warrior like Kratos to life, which will likely require many fighting scenes. Additionally, he has also appeared in many big projects like Guardians of the Galaxy, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune: Part Two, proving he has experience playing different roles.
Since Bautista has worked with Amazon on multiple projects before, including My Spy and The Wrecking Crew, his existing relationship with the studio could also play a part in the decision.
However, fans should take this news with a pinch of salt, as he is not yet confirmed to play Kratos by Amazon, leaving it unclear whether Bautista will actually take on the role or if the production will choose someone else.
According to IMDb, Dave Bautista is attached to a number of upcoming titles, including Alpha Gang, Ally, Universe's Most Wanted, The Romantic, Road House 2, Highlander, Grendel, and Dreadnought.
