The three-part Netflix docuseries Death of the Pastor’s Wife premiered at the end of last month, but it skipped the key details of John-Paul Miller's past criminal background. The series revisited the tragic death of John's second wife, named Mica Miller, who committed suicide in April 2024.
According to People Magazine, the show heavily focused on the relationship between John and Mica, which included their first meeting at Solid Rock Church when Mica was a teenager, their marriage in November 2017, and their official separation in April 2024.
Death of the Pastor’s Wife omitted that John was accused of r*ping a girl when he was a youth church leader. The series also missed out on the fact that John and his father's ministry moved to Myrtle Beach after facing allegations of s*xual misconduct.

Skipped key details in Death of the Pastor’s Wife
John's history of r*ping a girl
Death of the Pastor’s Wife didn't show that John has a history of crimes and allegations, including r*aping girls. Earlier, a lawsuit alleged that when John was a 19-year-old church leader, he r*ped a 15-year-old girl named Jane Doe. Sources revealed that he had touched her genitals without her consent in public.
Jane alleged that John forced her into his father's office at Reginald's church, where he became aggressive, overpowered her, and then took her to his truck and r*ped her.
The Myrtle Beach story
In 1993, John and his father moved their ministry and college to Myrtle Beach to separate themselves from earlier controversies and accusations of sexual misconduct involving Reginald and students at their former location in Florence. In 2023, the woman at the center of the lawsuit saw John‑Paul again during a trip to Myrtle Beach with a friend.
Insights from John's first wife
John's first wife, Alison Williams, shared that her experience with John was similar to Mica's, but she didn't appear in any interviews in Death of the Pastor’s Wife. According to The Crime Junkie podcast, Alison said,
"I was married to J.P. for 16 years. Although my story and what I lived through with J.P. were different in some ways, many of the details shared with me by Mica are so similar to my own experiences with J.P. that I know she was being truthful."
The series also skipped Mica's conversation with Alison, where she shared about John's behavior and her worries about the safety of both Alison's children and her own.
John has an adult son from a past relationship
Death of the Pastor’s Wife didn't reveal that John has an adult son. Crime Junkie showed that he has an older son named Logan from a relationship before his marriage to Alison.
John began shifting assets after Mica's first divorce attempt
John began moving assets into his own name after Mica's first divorce attempt in 2023. The transfers included Mica’s car and the deed to their house, which he moved to the church. He also transferred the deed to Crocodile Rocks, a piano bar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to one of his sons.
