Known for his roles in Succession, A Real Pain, and Igby Goes Down, Kieran Culkin is now set to voice the Devil in Family Guy's Halloween special episode.

According to Variety, the episode will open with Stewie and Brian. They are desperate to attend Block Island's Halloween party. However, they need a ferry to reach the location. As the party ferry is about to sail, they notice a man drowning. They contemplate whether to save the man or not. Stewie is particularly excited to attend the party since he heard that actor Eddie Redmayne might join the celebrations.

Stewie and Brian opt to take the ferry and leave the drowning man. However, they are killed shortly after. While they are sent to the waiting-room purgatory, they think they are heading towards heaven. They eventually arrive at the office of the Devil. Speaking about the Hell sequence, Appel told Variety,

"Our depiction of Hell is going to be surprising because of who you find in Hell. That’s where we could put our own twist on Hell.”

Appel said that every Family Guy episode takes approximately 14 months to move from ideation to the final cut. He explained that they cannot function like a Tonight Show monologue because producing the sequences needs ample time. He said,

"We happily discovered that [Culkin] is a fan of the show and he enthusiastically embraced it.”

He noted guest stars simply do not appear for the paychecks, adding that shows like The Simpsons pay 'guild minimum'.

Co-showrunner Alex Sulkin, who directed Culkin's Devil character for the Halloween special, said that the actor was sounding like his character Roman Roy on Succession. Speaking about Culkin, the co-showrunner added:

"He was startlingly like his character on ‘Succession,’ which was very fun. It’s nice when people are the fun versions of how you know them on TV.
