Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer teases Dexter’s darkest chapter yet as the killer returns for more blood

The official trailer for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has been released, giving us the first look at new serial killers who are getting added to the show. While Dexter Morgan is now in his fifties, life is not exactly going to be less crazy for him.

As the official trailer reveals, Dexter will have to face a serial killer who is new to the field and also another serial killer who has resurfaced after years. While Dexter's darkest chapter is yet to begin, he will also need to battle a midlife crisis.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 brings us new serial killers

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer opens with Michael C. Hall's Dexter holding someone hostage before he kills him. Before killing the man with a knife, he says:

"This is me coming clean. I'm Dexter Morgan, the Bay Harbor Butcher."

We then see that Dexter, who is now in his fifties, has begun having eyesight problems. He says that his life is hardly how he had imagined his life to be. As the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer reveals, a new serial killer, Owen Stark/Five Borough Killer (played by Dan Stevens), will be introduced in the upcoming season. We see Dexter say that while up-and-coming serial killers are trying to make a name for themselves, it's the older ones who get more attention.

In this case, while the Five Borough Killer will try to get attention, it is the return of Don Framt/New York Ripper (played by Brian Cox) that will attract more eyes and ears. While Dexter will try to deal with both serial killers, he will also have to deal with a midlife crisis. Interestingly, it is the latter that has him more stressed.

Uma Thurman is returning as Charley Brown, and as she tells Dexter in the trailer, they still have unfinished business. We also see Harrison tell Dexter:

"You can stop these monsters."

But Dexter says that he is wiser now and killing any and every serial killer wreaking havoc would be messy. However, he will go back to his old ways eventually. We also get a look at Krysten Ritter in the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer. Ritter's character, Mia LaPierre / Lady Vengeance, seemingly passed away in Season 1. Thus, we're yet to know if Ritter's Mia LaPierre is actually alive or if it's her ghost we will see in the upcoming season.

While we don't see Gabriel Luna in the trailer, he has joined the Season 2 cast as the serial killer, Ray Ballard/The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. Other new cast members joining the show for Season 2 are Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson as Captain Mixon and Fiona Mixon, respectively. Jack Alcott and Desmond Harrington are returning for Season 2 as Harrison Morgan and Joey Quinn, respectively.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will have 10 episodes and premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime on October 30, 2026. Only viewers with a Paramount+ Premium Plan will be able to watch the show.
