Did Maddy sleep with Alamo in Euphoria? Speculations explored
Unlike the many other s*xual encounters throughout the series, which are depicted in an explicit manner, Alamo and Maddy’s controversial scene is not shown but is rather implied. With the desperate attempt to save Nate’s life, Maddy strikes a deal with Alamo in exchange for money. At the end of episode 7, Alamo agrees to give Maddy the money to save Nate’s life.
However, he asks Maddy to wear a bathing suit and join him in the bathtub. Soon after Maddie agrees to step into the bathtub, Alamo begins to give her a foot massage and asks her to come closer to him. Maddie reluctantly agrees, as she has no other choice.
The scene cuts right at that moment without giving the viewers any details of the s*xual encounter between Alamo and Maddy, but it is distinctly implied through not just the uneasiness that Maddy shows after the incident but also the helplessness that she feels. Euphoria Season 3 brings forth many uncomfortable scenes throughout the series, which not only depict the dangerous nature of the businesses that Rue has gotten herself entangled with but also showcase how the other characters also get entangled with them.
After Alamo agrees to help Maddy save Nate and gives her the money, things take yet another dangerous turn when Maddy and Cassie find out that Nate has died. Seeking help from Alamo for Nate was all for nothing, and now Maddy has gotten herself permanently bound to Alamo.
In Euphoria Episode 8, there is also a similar disturbing scene, which further implies the s*xual encounter between Alamo and Maddy. In the finale, Maddy arrives at the club, where she is put in a difficult spot once again by Alamo. This time, Alamo tells Maddy that he wants to have a “white picket fence” life with Maddy, though the scene cuts right before Alamo leans in to kiss Maddy.
In Euphoria finale, Maddy and Alamo are soon interrupted by Ali’s arrival. Ali begins to shoot at Alamo’s men, causing him to leave the room he was in with Maddy. Things get heated as Ali points his gun in Alamo’s direction. However, Alamo puts Maddy in front of him as a shield.
Ali does not shoot Maddy and decides to have a duel instead. At the end of this episode of Euphoria, Maddy is finally set free after Ali shoots Alamo. The bullets in Alamo’s gun were removed by Bishop. Euphoria does a remarkable job in depicting the complicated relationships between the characters, especially Alamo and Maddy’s dynamic.
The uneasiness, along with the discomfort that the viewers are able to feel every time Alamo takes advantage of others, including Maddy, depicts the distinct ability of Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje to bring life to such a layered character.
Alexa Demie’s performance throughout the series also shows her ability to embody the distinct nuances of Maddy’s emotional turmoil. From the self-confident nature that Maddy had in the beginning of the series to the heartbreaking turn of events that led Maddy to experience the brutality of the world, the journey leaves a lasting impact.
