The race to be Chief Resident between Dr. Sonya Maitra and Dr. Amy Larsen begins. Sonya treats a misunderstood patient while Amy takes a tough call for her high-profile patient. Michael's parents are in town, and they do not shy away from asking Nora questions that make her uncomfortable. Katie has a panic attack.

Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen

Molly Parker leads the show as Dr. Amy Larsen. She's a former chief of internal medicine. However, she was demoted to an intern when she lost most of her memory due to a brain injury. As she rebuilt her personal and professional life, she was bombarded with several hurdles, yet she never stepped back.

In Episode 13 of Doc Season 2, Amy and Sonya's race to be Chief Resident begins. Joan gives them a task to review and critique each other's work. Amy takes a tough call while treating a politician. The high-profile client had an important vote to attend, and he seemed quite passionate about it.

Amy suggested a high-dose medicine that would give him time to make it to the City Hall for the vote. But there were side effects too; he would collapse sooner and would have to be put on life support. The politician agreed to it, and Amy administered the medicine. It was quite emotional to see him cast his vote and his son deliver a speech on his behalf.

Anya Banerjee as Dr. Sonya Maitra

Anya Banerjee plays Dr. Sonya Maitra, a resident in Doc Season 2. She's Amy's competitor in their race to become the chief resident. Both seem to be highly competitive and their complex history makes the battle more intense. In this episode, Dr. Sonya treats a patient whom everyone thinks is a pill chaser. Dr. Sonya initially refuses to pay heed to the patient's condition. But when she notices some alarming symptoms, she rushes to save her patient.

Omar Metwally as Dr. Michael Hamda

Omar Metwally plays Dr. Michael, CMO and Amy's former husband. Michael's parents are in town, and even though he requests them not to make Nora uncomfortable, they do the opposite. When Nora visits with Simon, they drop the question of her moving in. Later, when Michael's father asks Michael to confess his love for Nora, he hesitates. He tells his father that he won't be able to love her the way she deserves to be.
