Previously, in Doc Season 2, we saw how Amy confronted Hannah, and with Charlie in the ICU fighting for his life, Hannah chose to tell her the truth.

Through a flashback, we learnt about Dr. Brian Clarke's negligence. Amy rightfully called him out on many instances, but Richard blamed her instead. Back to the present, during the interrogation, Clarke's wife chose to tell the truth about her late husband, and this saved Amy for the time being. Amy saved Charlie's life, who was almost on the verge of death. In a way, Clarke's wife wanted to return the favour for saving Charlie's life.

Doc season 2 Episode 13 recap: The race for the Chief Resident begins

youtube-cover

In this epsiode Joan sets an interesting task for the race of Chief Resident between Amy and Sonya. She orders them to review each other's work and critique it as required. With Sonya and Amy trying to secure their future as Chief Resident, it would be interesting to see who finally gets it. Will Joan's bias rig the race, or will the best person win? Both Sonya and Amy are competitive, and their complex relationship will make the race even more interesting.

Sonya treats a misunderstood patient

Sonya's first patient of the day is a patient with pancreatitis. The ER doctor told the patient that she was faking her pain and was chasing pills. This shows how often the healthcare system fails to understand the patient. Judging them early isn't a good way to begin with. It's quite humiliating and offensive for the patient. Sonya does not take the patient seriously either. She gets a bed in the treatment program. Turns out the patient was struggling with the same condition for six long years, and it has only gotten worse.

In the end, when Sonya sees her patient struggling with pain, she takes the case seriously. She soon realizes it's a severe case and helps her out. It's good to see Sonya taking a step back from her stubbornness and choosing what she always aimed to be, a kind and understanding doctor.

Amy suggests a tough call for her high-profile patient

In Episode 13 of Doc Season 2, Amy needs to make a tough call for her patient. Her patient is Troy, a politician who is critically ill but needs to attend an important vote in the city hall. Amy suggests a tough choice; she decides to give him medication that might put him on life support sooner than expected (upon Troy's request). However, the medication would buy him enough time to vote.

Left with no other choice, Amy decides to administer the medication. She sees the enthusiasm and passion in her patient, who is desperate to make a change through his vote. They rush to the city hall with him, where he casts his vote to pass a Bill that he had worked months for. His son delivers a speech on his behalf. Amy and his family watch him fight for his passion, maybe for the last time. It's an emotional moment.

Michael's parents are in town, and Katie has a panic attack

Michael's parents are in town to meet baby Simon. However, they are unaware of Nora moving out with the baby. Michael requests that his parents not make Nora uncomfortable when she brings Simon over. But his parents do the opposite; they ask Nora when she's moving back in. Later, we find Michael job-hunting while his father lectures him on how to be a better father and husband. He suggests telling Nora about his feelings. But what shocks the viewers is Michael's reply. Michael tells him that he cannot love Nora the way she wants him to, or the way she deserves. Michael's complex emotions are brilliantly showcased in this sequence.

Katie's been through a lot, and when she was having a panic attack in this episode, it was heartbreaking to see her struggle. However, Michael's decision to bring her to Amy might help her fight through the tough phase.
