Doctor on the Edge Episode 7 recap: Ha-ri faces her worst nightmare

Doctor on the Edge Episode 7 stands out as one of the most emotional episodes in the Korean drama so far, mainly focusing on Ha-ri and her grandmother, who has cancer. Throughout the episode, Ha-ri ignores Ji-ui after he doesn't help her convince her grandma to take the clinical trials. Ji-ui just wanted to respect the patient's wishes, and Ha-ri, on the other hand, being attached to her grandmother, wanted to do everything she could to make sure she got better.

After a certain point, even Chiyeon realizes that Ha-ri has been avoiding Ji-ui after he didn't tell her about her grandmother not attending the clinical trials. By the end of the episode, Ji-ui helps her realize that her grandmother is in great pain and wants to be by her side in her last days. However, it's too late, as her grandmother passes away before Ha-ri could talk to her.

Doctor on the Edge Episode 7 recap: Ha-ri asks Chiyeon for help

In the previous episode of Doctor on the Edge, we saw Chiyeon telling Ha-ri that he wants to talk to her about something important. In the latest episode, it is revealed that her grandmother chose not to attend the clinical trial and instead gave up on the treatment.

When Ha-ri asks her grandmother about the same, she tells her that she doesn't want to prolong her life just to stay stuck in the hospital. Instead, she wants to be by her side for the remaining time that is left. Her grandmother realizes that while the treatment might help her, she will be kept on life support, and she doesn't want to live like that.

Ha-ri doesn't want to give up on her grandmother so easily, and she keeps pushing her to get the treatment. She even asks Chiyeon for her help, asking him if she can get tested again. Chiyeon understands her situation and agrees to help her. We also see Chiyeon understand Ji-ui's decision, telling Ha-ri that he didn't help because he's a doctor and he wanted to respect his patient's wishes.

The medical center gets selected as a telemedicine pilot site for health care monetization. On the other hand, Ha-ri continues ignoring Ji-ui. Ji-ui decides to go to Ha-ri's house, but as he arrives, he hears the sound of breaking glass and discovers Ha-ri's grandmother inside. He helps her make the red bean sorghum for Ha-ri's birthday and understands the grandmother's point of view.

The hospital also receives a call for a patient who fell from a fishing boat. On arrival, the doctors don't find any signs of life and declare him dead. Ji-ui asks Ha-ri to set up a privacy screen, and they stitch him up. Chiyeon decides to drop Ha-ri off at home, and later, the grandmother realizes that Ha-ri has a fever.

While Chiyeon decides to go initially, he later asks Ji-ui to visit Ha-ri's home and check up on her. As he sets up a drip for her, Ha-ri tries to make Ji-ui understand what her grandmother means for her, begging him to convince her to take the treatment.

While Ha-ri was already upset over her grandmother's decision, she became angry after finding a packed memorial photo of her grandmother. Later, Ha-ri and Ji-ui visit the cancer survivor who was treated for diabetes. Mr. Kim thanks them for saving his life and gives them a gift, adding that after his treatment, his daughter stayed by his side, which made him happy.

Ji-ui finally opens up to Ha-ri and apologizes for not telling her about her grandmother's decision in Doctor on the Edge. He adds that she just wants to live by her granddaughter's side, and that's why she turned down the clinical trials.

Ji-ui tells Ha-ri to stay by her grandmother's side, as she is more scared and in pain, and she should at least give her a chance to tell how afraid she is. Ha-ri finally understands everything and, after returning home, lies down beside her grandmother, telling her that she wants to hear her side too. She even says sorry as she expresses her own feelings.

However, as she turns, she realizes her grandmother is no longer alive. Chiyeon and Ji-ui also arrive, and they confirm the news, leaving Ha-ri completely shattered in Doctor on the Edge.
