The Daily Show's host, Michael Kosta, took a dig at Kid Rock on a recent episode of the show. Kosta made fun of the recent controversy surrounding the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Guilfoyle allegedly attempted to solicit a $100,000 quid pro quo payment from a political donor, Eric Deters, in exchange for political access and help with federal agencies.
Michael Kosta took a dig at Kid Rock on a decent The Daily Show episode by mocking texts that revealed Deters allegedly wanted Guilfoyle’s help to send the singer a song he wrote.
The Daily Show's Michael Kosta makes fun of Kid Rock
As exclusively reported by the Wall Street Journal, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, allegedly begged political donor and Kentucky attorney Eric Deters to wire $100,000 directly to her American Express account to clear a debt. In exchange, Guilfoyle offered him political favors. Deters, however, refused to wire the money.
The Daily Show host, Michael Kosta, made fun of the controversy on a recent episode of the show. He first reported what had allegedly happened in a funny manner. Then, he gave Eric Deters, who happens to be the former co-owner of Snappy Tomato Pizza, the following nickname:
"Mr. Tomato."
Kosta then said that Kimberly Guilfoyle wasn't the only one asking for something and that Eric Deters had also asked for multiple things as:
"favors."
He allegedly wanted Guilfoyle to lobby on his behalf to the IRS commissioner to help him resolve a tax dispute. Moreover, he also wanted her to help him appear on Tucker Carlson's podcast and send a song he wrote to Kid Rock, called Kentucky Outlaw. Making fun of Deters' desire to send a song he wrote to Kid Rock, The Daily Show's Michael Kosta asked sarcastically:
"He wanted her to send a song to Kid Rock"
Referring to Mr. Tomato (Eric Deters), Kosta continued:
"... Don't need to send a sh**ty song to Kid Rock. He has plenty at home."
After that joke earned him loud laughter from The Daily Show's crowd, Kosta said:
"Also, you don't need to bribe someone to get a song to Kid Rock. Just strap a CD to a beer can and throw it into his yard."
Kosta then continued to make fun of the solicitation controversy. Eric Deters refused to pay Guilfoyle the requested amount because he didn't have that kind of money at the time and used the excuse that his wife wouldn't agree to the payment. As a joke, Kosta speculated that Deters perhaps refused to pay because none of the earlier promises Guilfoyle made him were fulfilled.
While Kimberly Guilfoyle reportedly asked Eric Deters for money, and in exchange Deters asked for multiple favors, including sending his song to Kid Rock, the entire controversy has yet to be proven absolutely true. Kosta's comments are also jokes made out of an alleged incident that occurred and are not a reflection of the actual intentions of Deters or Guilfoyle.
