Dutton Ranch Episode 5 recap: Beth and Rip make a deal with the devil

Dutton Ranch Episode 5 titled 'Peaceful Find Peace' was released on Paramount+ on June 5. The official synopsis for the Yellowstone spin-off reads as follows:

Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler embark on their own journey, relocating for a fresh start. Their ward Carter joins them, and despite challenges, Beth and Rip strive to guide him into manhood.

The latest episode of Dutton Ranch opened in the aftermath of the cow massacre, which left Rip and Beth helpless and without any cattle. While the couple had dreamed of getting a fresh start, this was a major setback. After Everett revealed that Beulah was in desperate need of a foreman at her 10-Petal ranch, the couple had no choice but to cut a deal with the devil.

Beulah hired Rip in Dutton Ranch Episode 5

Beulah might have been locking heads with Beth and Rip in Dutton Ranch Episode 5 but she was clever enough to be impressed with the latter's resume. Thanks to Everett's intervention, Rip found a new job opportunity on the 10-Petal Ranch after Beulah hired him. Now that Rip was back to his Yellowstone role, he was making good use of his position as the foreman, working up the crew and feeling up the ranch hands to find out who was not worth keeping. While Beulah had a successful business at the ranch, Rip's expertise might prove beneficial in the long run. After a long day at work, Rip fired Chet and handed him his papers, which is bound to upset him in the upcoming episodes.

While Beulah was unbothered with Rip's decision to fire Chet in Dutton Ranch Episode 5, the latter went to Joaquin with his complaints. Chet tried to subtly threaten Joaquin by bringing up Wes' murder but he was unbothered. As the episode came to a close, Rob-Will showed up at Chet's place after checking himself out of the rehab, setting up yet another problem for Beth and Rip.

Beth teamed up with Beulah in Dutton Ranch Episode 5

While Rip found work on Beulah's ranch in Dutton Ranch Episode 5, Beth was not happy with this development. Since the couple had dreamed of getting a fresh start, she decided to cut yet another deal with the devil and arrived at the 10-Petal Ranch. Just last episode, Beth refused Beulah's invitation when she dropped off her granddaughter. In a hilarious turn of events, Beth showed up with a drink and a deal in hand. The two powerful women sat down to discuss a potential deal, setting up an exciting partnership in the upcoming episodes.

After researching 10-Petal's history, Beth advised selling premium steaks to high-end buyers on the ranch's behalf, in exchange for 20% of the profits. While Rip will continue to lend his expertise and knowledge on the ranch, this deal would benefit Beulah's business. Between Jo's lack of strategic thinking and Beth's tempting deal, Beulah agreed to join hands with her former rival.

Carter witnessed a tragedy in Dutton Ranch Episode 5

While Beth and Rip continue to treat Carter like a child in Dutton Ranch Episode 5, he has decided to make it big on his own. Turns out, Carter was serious about getting a real job, as he was still doing manual labour on Dwight's farm, the cowboy he met with in the previous episode. Since Oreana was under her grandmother's strict surveillance, Carter had no choice but to chat up with Dwight.

However, things took a turn when the police raided Dwight's farm and the new Sheriff shot at Carter's new boss and left him to die. Later, when Carter was taken for questioning at the station, he accused the Sheriff of killing Dwight. However, the episode concluded with Carter cutting a deal with the Sheriff. He promised to stay quiet about the incident, and in return, he will not be pressed with charges.
