Emmy Rossum played Fiona Gallagher in Shameless for the first nine seasons. Her father is an alcoholic, while her mother is a drug addict, which left Fiona with no choice but to help her struggling family and fulfill most of the responsibilities.

Talking about the character, Rossum said:

"She made me understand finding your voice. I understood familial struggle, I understood loyalty, I understood absurdity about survival and the comedy that can sometimes come from real-life survival... I understood yearning for a parent that wasn't there."

When asked what Fioana must be doing now as Shameless ended years ago, Rossum said that she's likely a real estate mogul in Florida. She's finding a way in life and "crushing it."

Currently, Emmy Rossum is playing FBI agent Alice Black in Hulu's TV series, Furious. While talking about her role, she said that she was looking for a character that would be "as deep and nuanced as Fiona," someone Rossum could see herself playing for years.

Alice Black was once a detective who has now joined the FBI and is also a victim of violence. In order to find herself, Alice has to get involved in dangerous and risky tasks, and for that, Rossum also needed training.

As explained earlier, she was guided by former and current FBI and NYPD detectives and even psychologists who helped her understand the impact violence leaves on someone so that she could portray that in Alice. She said:

"A lot of weapon training, a lot of physical training, making myself strong enough so I believed in myself that I could be this person."

Emmy Rossum continued:

"A lot of protein eating Like a 175 gm of protein a day. So many beef sticks... I'm back on the fruits and the fries now."

The first three episodes of Furious are out for streaming as the pyschological thriller has only eight episodes in total. If you have a Hulu subscription you can dive into Alice's journey right away.
