A detailed recap of the finale is right below.
Euphoria Season 3 finale recap: Rue escapes but falls back into addiction

The last episode of Euphoria Season 3 begins with Rue trapped at Laurie’s compound after she was caught stealing from Wayne's locker as Faye freaked out and shouted his name. However, Rue manages to fight off Wayne and Faye, escapes through the underground tunnels, and reaches the desert.
Although a cowboy captures her and drags her back toward the ranch, Alamo’s associate G intervenes from a distance and helps Rue get away. The two flee together, celebrating what feels like a victory.
On the other side, Cassie and Maddy are devastated by Nate's death. It was likely one of the worst moments of their lives as they're clearly exhausted and broken. During this difficult time, the two former best friends reconnect and promise each other to continue facing their problems, but this time with full honesty.
The focus then shifts to Rue, who gave the stolen items back to Alamo. Instead of punishing her, Alamo rewards Rue and even praises her efforts against Laurie. He then provides her with some money and offers her Percocet.
Rue realizes that danger is coming, but she has to play along and take those pills. It becomes clear in the finale of Euphoria Season 3 that Alamo is deliberately pulling her back into addiction so she remains dependent on him.
At the same time in the episode, a drug-smuggling operation involving Big Eddy, Laurie’s men, and several women is set in motion. The DEA is already on the mission while Rue spends time with Ali, talking about faith, redemption, and heaven as she's more focused on whether she can escape the addiction she has just allowed back into her life.
Euphoria Season 3 finale recap: Laurie falls and Rue's story ends tragically

The finale continues, and we see how miserably Laurie's operation collapsed. As the smuggling convoy heads toward her property, animals around the ranch begin reacting strangely, warning everyone that something is wrong.
The DEA agents surround the compound with helicopters and vehicles, and there's panic among everyone from Laurie's crew. However, Wayne and Faye make it out without being arrested.
Then, Laurie realizes that there's no other way for her to escape. She takes her own life as she doesn't want to get arrested. However, the DEA still hasn't achieved much, as Alamo secretly outsmarted everyone.
He and Bishop switched the ambulances beforehand. This means that the authorities couldn't recover the drugs while Alamo keeps control of the shipment and removes his biggest rival.
Later, Rue learns that Fez (the late Angus Cloud) has supposedly escaped prison and begins searching for him. Hoping to find him, she follows a trail of memories and familiar locations from her past.
However, the search never leads to a reunion. Instead, the experience grows increasingly dreamlike and eventually becomes part of the sequence that reveals what is really happening to her.
Rue then sees memories from her childhood, revisits familiar places, and eventually imagines reuniting with her mother. The truth is revealed shortly afterward: Rue has overdosed at Ali’s apartment and died in the finale of Euphoria Season 3.
The pills Alamo gave her contained fentanyl, and it's Ali who discovers her body and confirms the drugs were contaminated. He realizes Alamo intentionally caused her death. This way, Rue Bennett dies in late 2024 in the series, ending her long battle with addiction just when it seemed she might finally find stability.
Euphoria Season 3 ending explained: Ali’s revenge and everyone’s final fate

Months passed after Rue's death and Ali is still in pain. Losing Rue changes his entire thinking as he no longer believes understanding addicts and dealers is enough. Instead he realizes that people like Alamo are responsible for multiple deaths and should be punished.
So, he takes out his gun and tracks Alamo to the Silver Slipper nightclub. When he reaches the club, Ali has to confront Alamo's men and he manages to defeat them. After a shootout, Bishop surprisingly betrays Alamo by removing the bullets from his gun.
During a final standoff, Alamo discovers too late that he has been set up. Ali kills him, avenging Rue’s death and ending Alamo’s control over the criminal network. Bishop then helps Maddy leave safely as she was stuck with Alamo, suggesting he has finally turned against his former boss.
On the other side of the finale of Euphoria Season 3, Jules is expressing her pain through her painting of Rue. Cassie, Maddy, and Lexi move forward in life while also remembering Rue and the loss they have suffered.
Cassie remains trapped in a hollow influencer lifestyle, while Lexi finds comfort in religion. In the closing moments of Euphoria Season 3, Ali visits the religious family Rue once stayed with.
He offers prayer and thanks Rue, and honors her memory. For the last time, Rue appears at a dining table with the kids, smiling at Ali. It suggests that after all the pain she endured, the battle against addiction, Rue has finally found peace.
