"Finally wands that look like book wands": Fans praise new book-accurate designs ahead of HBO Harry Potter premiere

HBO's Harry Potter series is going to be released in a few months, and ahead of the show's premiere, new wand designs have been revealed. In a new post, the Harry Potter franchise revealed the new wand designs for Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and Neville, along with details regarding what they are made of.

Fans are loving the new designs because they look book-accurate and actually look like they are made of different kinds of woods.

Fans' reaction to the new Harry Potter wand designs

The new post features Harry Potter's wand first along with key details about it. Harry's wand is 11 inches long and made of wood named Holly, known for protecting its owner and choosing wizards facing a dangerous or spiritual quest. At the core of the wand is a single phoenix feather donated by Fawkes (Dumbledore's phoenix).

Harry Potter's wand is a brother wand of Voldemort's wand since they both have a feather from Fawkes in their core. Fans are praising the new wand designs. One fan (@solovey_solovey) commented on the post saying:

"Yess !!! Finally wands that look like book wands ! So excited"

As described in the books, each wand is unique, and that is evident right from their look. Moreover, the new designs have accurately depicted the wand designs as mentioned in the books. Hermione's wand, for example, is extremely unique because it's made of vine wood, which, according to Garrick Ollivander, is a less common wood.

Vine wood is known to choose witches and wizards who seek a greater purpose and have hidden depths. Moreover, it also looks unique, as it has vine-like structures running all over it. Hermione's wand has a dragon heartstring core and is 10¾ inches.

The wand of Neville's that we see in the post is the first one he used. Neville initially used his father Frank Longbottom's old wand till his fifth year at Hogwarts. The wand's wood, length, and core are unknown. It was broken by the Death Eater Antonin Dolohov, during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries in 1996.

After his father's wand broke, Neville bought a new wand from Ollivanders. The new one is 13 inches long, made from cherry wood, and has unicorn hair as its core. The new wand suited him much better and helped improve his confidence and skills.

The fact that the wands are actually made of wood is evident in all the designs. We see that in the shape and design of Ron's wand featured in the post. This particular one is the first one he used, which he had inherited from his older brother, Charlie. It was 12 inches long, made of ash wood, and had a unicorn hair core.

It broke during his second year at Hogwarts and was held together with Spellotape before it broke completely. Ron bought a new wand before his third year, which is made of willow wood and has a unicorn hair core.

Another fan mentioned how each wand looks like they are made of different kinds of wood. They (@candicecollects) said:

The difference in the wood the wands are made of is evident in all the wands. For instance, while other wands have more or less a uniform color, Draco Malfoy's wand is a bit darker at the tip. His wand is made of hawthorn wood with a unicorn hair core and is 10 inches long.

In the Harry Potter books, Garrick Ollivander explained that hawthorn wands choose witches and wizards who are experiencing inner conflict or turmoil, and they are adept at both healing magic and curses.

Thus, each of the new wand designs is extremely unique, as mentioned in the Harry Potter books. We will most likely see wand designs of more characters in the coming days.
