Reacher Season 4 - Chris Rodriguez-Marquette was not the first choice for Jacob Merrick:

A few weeks ago, the Barry and Reacher Season 4 actor sat down for an interview with Collider, in which he revealed the situation that led to his casting as Jacob. If you remember, Jay Baruchel dropped out of season 4 last June due to an emergency. The Tropic Thunder actor was the first choice to play Jacob this season until he had to drop out.

Marquette revealed that he received a call from his agent on a Friday night. At that time, the actor was in Ireland spending quality time with his family. He was asked to make an audition tape in 15 minutes by showrunner Nick Santora. It seems that last year, he auditioned for his Reacher role on that Saturday, got cast on Sunday, and he immediately flew to Toronto to start filming on Monday.
