For All Mankind Season 5 Episode 3 just hit a turning point with Ed Baldwin waking up to a diagnosis. What hurts even more is what he chooses to do after he falls completely ill and sick.
Ed decides to spend his final days without any medical intervention (by refusing chemotherapy). At the same time, the tension at Mars is rising as usual, and Aleida has also made a huge choice about how he wants to spend his last days.
For All Mankind Season 5 Episode 4 will be dropping on April 17 on Apple TV, and the story will be shifting its focus toward the next generation, especially Alex, as he starts making way for his own path while following Ed's advice.
For All Mankind Season 5 Episode 4: Release date news, time, streaming details, and more
For All Mankind Season 5 Episode 4 will drop on April 17 on Apple TV. As usual, this is a weekly drop releasing exclusively on the platform.
Season 5 was first released on March 27, and the season will run for 10 episodes.

Season 5 has most of its focus on the Mars colony in the 2010s timeline, where things are way bigger on the planet now. We don't have just astronauts anymore. There are literal families, workers, and even people living there without proper status.
Back on Earth, there's politics that's still messing with space progress. Leadership also sees a change, and “Earth first” thinking clashes with the idea of expanding Mars.
Meanwhile, Helios, NASA, and Soviet control are all pulling in different directions.
A brief recap of Episode 3, and what Episode 4's "Open Source" will be about
In For All Mankind Season 5 Episode 3, Ed survives being found unconscious, but the bigger blow comes after when he learns he has stage 3 cancer. He refuses to get chemotherapy and decides to live and die on his own terms.

On Mars, things are also far from being calm. Lee’s situation inside the ISN compound only makes the divide between groups even worse, because the control over Mars is clearly not settled, and everything is as political as it can get.
Celia Boyd also keeps pushing against the official version of Yoon’s death. She gets close to something important tied to Kuragin, but ends up being attacked before she can even prove anything. By the end, she’s taken off the case, which basically shuts that investigation down for now.
Aleida, on the other hand, with signs of life on Titan, restarts an old mission and chooses to go to Mars herself, leaving everything behind on Earth.
The synopsis for Episode 4, titled "Open Source" reads:
"Alex takes Ed’s advice and finds a new project to focus on, a job at Helios."
The synopsis clearly means that the next generation (Alex) will step in while the older ones (Ed) fade away. Alex moving toward Helios is not just a career decision that he will be making, but it's more so about where Mars is also heading in Season 5.
Episode 4 of For All Mankind Season 5 will drop on April 17 on Apple TV.
In this episode, releasing next week, Alex will be deciding on what to do next career-wise after taking some advice from his grandfather, Ed. With Mars already unstable and with the leadership already being so divided, even small decisions are now important because this is where the younger generation will begin to take control.
