While talking to Radio Times, Sophie Turner, who plays Zara Dunner in Steal, revealed that these kinds of twists and focus on showing the characters as 'morally grey' is one of the reasons she "signed on to the show."

She further stated:

"I just loved it. I found it totally fascinating and exciting to have everybody in this show be morally grey."

More on this in our story.

Steal star Sophie Turner reveals why she wanted to do the Prime Video series

Prime Video's Steal begins with Lochmill Capital being raided by a group of robbers, who steal billions of dollars from the pension management company. While in the beginning, it looked like a shocking event that caught the employees by surprise. However, it gradually revealed that several of the Lochmill employees were also involved in the heist, such as Zara and Luke.

In the Radio Times interview, Sophie Turner explained how these twists that keep on coming in the Prime Video series are what made her come onboard and take up the role of Zara. She stated that it was the revelation that none of these characters are perfect, that all of them have a grey side, and wanted to gain something from the heist.

To add to her previous comment, Turner stated:

"You're constantly guessing who's done what, and who's up to what. And who can we trust and who can't we trust? It just keeps you on your toes at all times."

In Steal, Turner's character Zara was not happy with her job, and a promotion was the lure that was used to make her join the heist, whereas Luke, played by Archie Madekwe, purely wanted the money that he would get if the heist was successful. However, while they knew about the heist, they had no idea about the extent of it, and it can be seen in Episode 1 how Luke panics seeing the robbers pointing a gun at him.

In the same interview, Archie Madawke talked about this and said:

"There's a certain thing rehearsed or spoken about, how maybe this would go, if and when it happens. But then all of a sudden, it spirals out of their control. It becomes a lot bigger than what they'd spoken about. It feels scarier."

Agreeing to this, Turner further added:

"As much as it's been planned, these guys come into the office and they beat up their colleagues. None of this is part of the deal."

The heist put Zara, Luke, and DCI Rhys in complicated positions as the robbers, MI5, and even the police began looking into them. Tune into Prime Video to watch Steal and find out the fates of these characters.
