After more than a year of it's cancellation, Kelsey Grammer is giving fans hope once again for the Frasier reboot, as the producer talks about how the door is still open for the iconic sitcom's return to screens.
Last year it was reported that CBS studios is looking for a new home for the show, after Paramount+ scrapped it off before it's third season. Although the legacy show was received well with fans, it failed to meet expectations.
]One of the biggest challenges facing the reboot was its short streaming season format. With only ten episodes per season on Paramount+, the sitcom lacked the breathing room that traditional network comedies rely on to build rhythm, character dynamics, and long-running jokes. By the time season 2 ended, the series appeared to be finding its footing, especially with the promise of deeper collaborations between Frasier and Roz and the potential return of Niles.
In March of 2025, Grammer opened up on why the show was canceled in an interview with New York Post where he said,
“The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left, and so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration, without having any real conscious and what to do with it. So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren’t particularly passionate about the project."
He then ended things on a more hopeful note as he added,
“We’ll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it. Listen, it’s got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will,”
According to Grammer, the reboot is still being actively shopped around, and funding for the project exists. While details remain scarce, his continued push signals a real commitment to extending Frasier Crane’s story into a third chapter. That said, the odds are steep. Revived shows rarely find new homes after a cancellation, particularly when streaming services are tightening budgets and several shows are getting canceled.
Still, things could work out for the beloved show, and we might just get Frasier Cane on our screens once again.
More details about Frasier
Frasier arrived on television with opera references, tossed salads, and a Kelsey Grammer we all grew to love. Airing on NBC from 1993 to 2004, the series ran for 11 seasons and transformed a supporting character from Cheers into an endearing lead.
The show follows Frasier Crane, a cultured psychiatrist played by Kelsey Grammer, as he leaves Boston behind and returns to Seattle to host a call-in radio advice show. What awaits him is chaos of the most domestic kind as he encounters a chaotic, odd group of people who define his life.
A cultural success, the show went on to win 37 Primetime Emmy Awards and dominated the Outstanding Comedy Series category for five consecutive years. That legacy is hard to ignore, and hopefully the show will make its way to the screens again, and give us the revival we need.
Frasier is available to stream on Paramount+ and Prime Video.
