Lisa Kudrow loved her time on Friends, but there's one iconic Phoebe thing she never wants to do again, and that is singing "Smelly Cat."

Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, the story revolves around a group of six friends who navigate through their bizarre lives in 1990s New York. The cast includes Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, David Schwimmer as Ross Geller, and Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing.

Smelly Cat became one of Phoebe's most famous songs on the sitcom, which she often played on her guitar at Central Perk. But it turns out Kudrow is not such a big fan of singing it when fans ask her to perform the song.

In Friends Season 2 Episode 6, Phoebe is seen sitting with Stephanie, teaching her how to sing Smelly Cat, putting emphasis on particular words and calling it a "hard song." In Season 2, Episode 17, Phoebe shows her friends the official music video of "Smelly Cat."

The song soon became one of Phoebe's most famous songs and was even performed again during the Friends reunion, where Lady Gaga joined Lisa Kudrow to sing Smelly Cat. Even during Taylor Swift's The 1989 World Tour, Kudrow joined the singer on stage and sang the iconic Phoebe song with her, showing just how famous "Smelly Cat" had become over the years.

While fans have loved the song over the years, Kudrow has a slightly different view of it. She admitted that she doesn't really enjoy singing Smelly Cat when fans ask her to.

During her recent appearance on Fresh Air with Terry Gross & Tonya Mosley, Kudrow was asked about her relationship with other cast members, including whether she ever gets called Phoebe or asked to repeat some of the character's famous lines.

Kudrow answered by saying that she has absolutely no complaints about the sitcom or anything related to it. She further added that she loved her relationship with the other actors, adding that they had fun together and had mutual respect for each other. However, the actress said there is one thing she does not really like doing, adding that people sometimes stop her and ask her to sing Smelly Cat, but she really does not want to sing the song.

However, this is not the first time Kudrow has spoken about fans asking her to sing Smelly Cat. During her 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon asked Kudrow if people still ask her to play the song when they meet her. Kudrow said that people sometimes tell her they have a guitar and ask her to sing the iconic song. Kudrow continued her answer by saying:

"Good for you."

Lisa Kudrow also won an American Comedy Award for Friends in the category of Funniest Supporting Female Performer in a TV Series. Her other famous works include The Comeback, Space Force, and Web Therapy.
