From Ransom Canyon to The Boroughs: Every Netflix series cancelled in 2026 so far

Deadline published a report this Thursday stating that Netflix cancelled the neo-Western romantic series Ransom Canyon after two seasons. This cancellation has brought back memories of several recent cancellations by the streaming giant. However, unlike other cancellations, the end of the Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel series isn't that hurtful.

That's because the second season ended on a happier note, with very little setup for a season 3. But Ransom Canyon is not the only series that was cancelled by Netflix this year. Here's a look at all the shows that the streaming giant chose to end in 2026.

Here are some of the notable cancellations by the streaming giant in 2026:

Ransom Canyon

Season 2 was already greenlit at a reduced capacity, as it consisted of eight episodes instead of ten like the first season. The Deadline report revealed that the internal reception for the second season was warmer than the first season. However, season 2 recorded 4.1 million views on its first week, which is 43% lower than the first season.

However, it seems that Ransom Canyon Season 2 ended with Staten and Quinn together, making fans believe that the heroes got their happily ever after ending.

Terminator Zero

The Terminator franchise took a big swing in 2024 when Terminator Zero, the anime, dropped on the streamer. For two whole years, the fate of the series remained unconfirmed, but showrunner Mattson Tomlin already confirmed in February this year that the streaming giant cancelled the series despite its glowing reception. He said:

“The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it. I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in seasons 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”

Miss Governor

The sixteen-episode first season was released in two parts last year. However, it seems that the political satire is not returning for a second season as Terri J. Vaughn herself confirmed in March that the series was not returning. Confirming the cancellation, Vaughn said:

“I have to admit, I was quite heartbroken when I first got the info, mainly because…of course, because I really worked my **s off to make that show come to fruition. My heart and the intention behind the show was just, and I still feel it was just so beautiful and purposeful [and] impactful…to be able to tell those stories through that character.”

The Boroughs

The Boroughs' cancellation was one of the more shocking developments this year. It was marketed as Stranger Things, but with senior citizens rather than kids, which is why it wasn't surprising that the sci-fi mystery had The Duffer Brothers as executive producers. The Boroughs even saw a strong start, as the show rose to an impressive 9.5 million views in the first week.

However, the viewership fell to 3.7M views in the second week, and it seems that the suits believed that it wasn't going to change. Therefore, despite plans for seasons 2 and 3, the streamer cancelled the series in the second week of June.
