FX’s The Shards turns heads as Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere lead its Class of ’81

The young cast of FX's upcoming series The Shards is already turning heads ahead of the series's premiere, led by Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, and Homer Gere. It is created by Ryan Murphy, famous for 9-1-1, Glee, The Prom, American Horror Story, and Pose.

The Shards is based on the novel written by Bret Easton Ellis, and takes viewers back to 1980s Los Angeles, where a group of elite teens deals with the relationships and the hidden struggles of adolescence behind their picture-perfect lives. With the trailers already out, viewers can see what the series has in store, from its grainy visuals to a vintage look of an old 1980s recording, adding to the series' setting and vibes.

Getting to know The Shards cast and their roles in the FX series

1) Igby Rigney as Bret Easton Ellis

The twenty-three-year-old Igby Rigney will play Bret Easton Ellis in the FX series. His famous works include Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Grey's Anatomy.

His character, Bret, seems like an observant teen who likes noticing things that others might miss. At the same time, he is very intelligent and an aspiring writer whose life starts to change after a new student, Robert Mallory, comes into the picture.

2) Homer Gere as Robert Mallory

Homer Gere last appeared as Dylan Reid in Euphoria. Along with The Shards, he also has an upcoming project lined up titled "White Lies." In the FX series, he plays the character of Robert Mallory.

Robert is a new student whose personality is pretty charming yet mysterious, leading people around him to wonder who he actually is. At the same time, his transfer to the school seems a little suspicious, especially since it happens just as a serial killer, The Trawler, starts spreading its own web in the city.

3) Kaia Gerber as Susan Reynolds

Twenty-four-year-old Kaia Gerber will take on the role of Susan Reynolds in the upcoming series. Gerber is known for her role in Bottoms, Babylon, Palm Royale, and Overcompensating.

Her character, Susan, is the most famous girl in the Los Angeles school. She seems to be pretty confident in herself, enjoying a wealthy life, and is also a part of Bret's friend group. Viewers will see her as a cheerleader who is likely to be chosen as the school's homecoming queen.

4) Hayes Warner as Debbie Schaffer

Hayes Warner, who has previously appeared on Entertainment Tonight, will take on the role of Debbie Schaffer in The Shards.

Debbie is another close and elite member of Bret's group, who wants to move away from the pressure and expectations of high school. In short, she just wants to live life on her own terms and wishes.

5) Graham Campbell as Thom Wright

Graham Campbell has previously appeared as Sherfey in Late Fame, released last year. He has also been a part of multiple shorts, including Well, I Should Get Going, White Oxygen, and The Library.

In The Shards, he plays Thom Wright, a friend of Bret at L.A. school. He is a well-liked teenager with a wealthy background who seems to have a perfect and sorted life and believes he can achieve anything.
