Ghosts Season 6 Halloween Special brings a strange mirror and an unexpected family twist for Hetty

The Halloween spirit is bringing more than just spooky surprises to Woodstone Manor in Ghosts Season 6. Joe Port and Joe Wiseman's beloved spooky sitcom is scheduled to return in early/mid 2027. But Ghosts will return with two hour-long Halloween and Christmas Specials in 2026.

The wait for the first special is almost over. Ghosts Season 6 Halloween Special, titled The Mirror, will air on CBS on October 29. You can also catch the episodes on Paramount+, a day later.

As Kyle (Ben Feldman) returns to babysit the ghosts with Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) amid Bela's (Punam Patel) Halloween party at Woodstone, a strange mirror will add a mysterious new wrinkle to the sitcom’s supernatural antics, which will reunite Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) with her estranged sister, Margaret.

Ghosts Season 6: What to expect in the Halloween Special?

CBS has made some major scheduling changes for Ghosts Season 6, but the spooky sitcom will return with a one-hour Halloween special before the upcoming season premieres.

The official teaser, shared by CBS, provides glimpses of the upcoming Halloween madness, which is sure to delight seasoned Ghosts fans. In addition to Kyle filling in for Sam while she shoots Polar Opposites in Australia and Bela throwing a Halloween party at Woodstone, the teaser introduces a strange mirror, which will reunite Hetty with her estranged sister.

Since mirrors and ghosts have always been a fascinating element in the horror genre, Season 6 is finally banking on this trope, as Trevor says in the final moments of the teaser:

"Ghosts in the mirror, people. Things are getting weird."

Since the Ghosts Season 6 Halloween Special is titled The Mirror, Hetty's family drama will be at the centre of the upcoming one-hour episode. Hetty is naturally drawn to the strange mirror, until she is finally pulled inside, likely by Margaret. It remains to be seen how the mysterious mirror ended up at Woodstone and how Jay, Kyle and the spirits bring Hetty back to the mansion.

According to Bleeding Cool, Wiseman and Port teased a new spooky addition at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026, saying Hetty's sister will be a type of ghost that we have never seen before.

Exploring the cast shake-ups in the upcoming Halloween Special

Eagle-eyed fans noticed two major absences in the Ghosts Season 6 Halloween Special teaser: Rose McIver's Sam and Richie Moriarty's Pete. Ghosts Season 5 concluded on a tense cliffhanger as Pete disappeared after being away from Woodstone to help Jay and Kyle secure Nancy's portrait in London. By the time the trio returned to Woodstone, Pete was nothing more than a floating head, which eventually disappeared completely as the end credits rolled on Season 5. With Moriarty being absent from the teaser, it remains to be seen if the upcoming Halloween Special will address Pete's disappearance.

Additionally, as McIver revealed on social media, she will remain absent at the start of Ghosts Season 6 as she is currently on maternity leave after delivering her second child. As Sam continues shooting in Australia, Kyle will help Jay babysit the spirits. Ben Feldman has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season.

Rounding out the Ghosts Season 6 Halloween Special cast are Devan Chandler Long as Thorfinn, Román Zaragoza as Sasappis, Brandon Scott Jones as Captain Isaac, Danielle Pinnock as Alberta Haynes, Sheila Carrasco as Flower and Asher Grodman as Trevor.

Actress and comedian Maria Thayer (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Those Who Can't) will guest star in the Halloween Special as Margaret, Hetty's estranged sister and a new spirit who will wreak havoc in Woodstone.
