Gimbap and Onigiri Episode 4 is out now, and with that, viewers get to know a little more about Taiga and Rin's families. This time, instead of bringing up the differences, Rin and Taiga stand with each other and don't hesitate to express how they're feeling, showing a growth in their bond.
In Gimbap and Onigiri Episode 4, Taiga goes back to his home for his father's anniversary, where he meets his brother. While talking, his brother tells Taiga not to keep a lot of hope from his role as a part-time cook, as he might not get the result. At this point, it feels like he just wants to show him the truth that he feels from his side after he heard Taiga was a part-timer.
On the other hand, Rin's mother sees her with Jun-ho and asks her to settle down with him. The episode ends with Rin telling Taiga that they shouldn't let others decide their future, and Taiga receives a call from the restaurant owner to take care of the place for a couple of days, which he manages well.

Gimbap and Onigiri Episode 4 recap: Taiga meets his mother and elder brother

The Gimbap and Onigiri Episode 4 begins with Taiga and Rin waking up in Rin's apartment. The couple has their food when suddenly Taiga receives a call from his elder brother. The episode takes viewers to a flashback of Taiga's past when he used to be a runner. Because he was unable to secure the top positions, he was ultimately removed from the team.
Taiga doesn't lose hope and gives his all in practicing. However, he doesn't land in the top position again, and his coach tells him others are also working as hard as he is. Taiga, after hearing this, feels demotivated and moves to Tokyo.
In the present, after receiving the call, he goes to his hometown for his father's anniversary and, after seeing his mother cooking, helps her with the chopping.
Taiga's brother asks him about his workplace, and after coming to know that he is a part-time cook, he tells Taiga that the owner only relies on him because he doesn't have anyone else to do the cooking.
This makes Taiga feel sad, and he expresses his feelings to Rin. However, Rin tells him that his brother is wrong, and the restaurant owner is glad to have him. This gives Taiga confidence to face his brother as he tells him that he is training and one day he will do something only he can do, adding that he wants to enjoy his work.
Taiga's brother, who is clearly not happy after hearing this, asks him what if he fails again. Taiga, not having any proper answer to this question, leaves his brother disappointed.
Gimbap and Onigiri Episode 4 recap: Taiga shares his feelings with the restaurant owner

Taiga returns to the restaurant and tells his owner about what he talked about with his mother and brother. At this point, Taiga's restaurant owner only wants to help him and also sees potential in him. To cheer him up, he takes Taiga to a wholesale market to buy vegetables and meat.
While keeping the vegetables in the vehicle, the owner tells him that he also left his school without getting a degree, after which he started cooking, adding that both people and things change. This was his way of making Taiga feel better after Taiga's brother told him he hadn't changed.
On the other hand, Jun-ho comes to pick up Rin's mother. Rin's mother is clearly impressed with Jun-ho and asks them if they're dating. Jun-ho already likes Rin, and while he says they're not dating, he also answers all the questions asked by Rin's mother.
Rin's mother tells her that it's better to settle down, adding that wanting to become an animator doesn't mean she will actually become one. In this scene, viewers see Rin's mother and Taiga's brother imposing their own opinions on Rin and Taiga.
Taiga receives a call from his restaurant owner, which opens an opportunity

Taiga and Rin finally meet after staying away for days. Rin tells Taiga about Danmuji Muchim, and just when they were talking, Taiga receives a call from his restaurant owner, who asks Taiga if he can handle the restaurant for a couple of days, as his sister has collapsed and he needs to take care of her.
Taiga manages the restaurant well and meets a person named Sakumoto, who is believed to be an expert in food. He likes Danmuji Muchim made by Taiga and admires his cooking style and the new path Taiga chose for himself after leaving sports.
While going, he also gives Taiga his card, stating that his company works in nutrition planning for the athletes. This might be the beginning of a new opportunity for Taiga.
