God of War cast: Every star confirmed so far in the upcoming Prime Video series

One of the most intriguing video game adaptations on Prime Video is the forthcoming God of War TV series. People are looking forward to witnessing the popular Norse mythology narrative being brought to life. The series will center on Kratos and his young son, Atreus, as they find themselves in the midst of a perilous world that is filled with gods, giants, and monsters. It will involve both serious fights and emotional scenes.

God of War has a great cast consisting of veteran and new actors and a few franchise faces, although the show does not have an official release window yet. Herein lies an amusing peep at the cast lineup so far!

Kratos, Thor and Odin, the big mythic players in God of War

Characters are the soul of God of War, and the Prime Video series has picked some powerful actors to play the leading roles. Kratos, the renowned Spartan warrior, will be played by Ryan Hurst. He has played some of the most intense characters in shows like Sons of Anarchy and even voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarök. He has now assumed Kratos as a live-action character.

Thor, the God of Thunder, will be portrayed by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. His roles are known to be serious, and intense and his version of Thor is expected to be darker and more brutal.

Mandy Patinkin, as Odin, the All-Father, will rule over everyone. Having a rich experience of performing in shows like Homeland or films such as The Princess Bride, Patinkin’s Odin is bound to be all three: clever, dangerous, and unpredictable.

Amazing side characters bringing the world to life

In addition to the deities and warriors, God of War is full of fun and memorable personalities, and some of them have already been cast. Teresa Palmer is going to play a warrior named Sif, who will be a trusted companion in battles and Thor’s life. Her appearance is supposed to make the story more emotional.

Alastair Duncan makes a reappearance as Mimir, the sagacious and amusing talking head who dispenses knowledge and jokes. He is one of the few actors who made their returns from the games and will be enjoyed by the fans in the live-action series. Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka will play the blacksmith brothers Brok and Sindri, who made weapons and joked around. It will be even more humorous with their casting. The character of Heimdall, the keen-eyed protector of Asgard who keeps watch over the kingdom, will be played by Max Parker.

What’s still to come and fan buzz

Although a lot of actors were announced, there remain some big questions. The largest one is: who will play the son of Kratos, Atreus? This role is very popular, and fans are eager to know the casting news.

The question that is also on people's minds is how closely the series will resemble the games. The fact that characters such as Thor and Odin are featured means that the story can either merge the events of other games or alter certain details.
