Fans rally behind Mikayla Matthews after she announced her exit from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. On September 15, the reality TV star took to her Instagram stories and announced that she had decided to quit Hulu's series because a 'certain person was coming back.' Matthews revealed that she agreed she would not film Season 6 'if that certain someone came back.' She further wrote:

"Because it’s UNETHICAL and kids are involved.”

Mikayla Matthews did not name any names but her exit from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is likely the result of Taylor Frankie Paul's return. The Utah influencer, at the centre of Hulu's reality series, was involved in domestic violence allegations with her ex, Dakota Mortensen.

With Taylor Frankie Paul returning to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 6, Mikayla Matthews has decided to quit. The latter's decision is winning fans' support, as one user wrote on Reddit:

"Glad someone is standing up for their morals instead of a paycheque, good for her."

Mikayla Matthews' decision to quit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives earns fans' support

Production on the fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was halted due to an investigation into another domestic violence allegation against Paul. Additionally, leaked footage from 2023 resurfaced, which showed Paul throwing a chair at Mortensen, with her five-year-old child being struck and crying during the incident. The clip went viral on social media, drawing backlash against Paul for allegedly putting her children’s safety at risk.

While the clip and the incident led ABC to cancel the premiere of The Bachelorette with Taylor Frankie Paul, she returned for Hulu's fifth season in a limited capacity. With Hulu continuing to work with Paul, Mikayla Matthews has taken her stance and decided to quit the show.

In a recent Instagram post, Matthews revealed that she is not comfortable being part of something that tolerates such unethical behaviour, especially since she grew up in a home with multiple forms of abuse. Check out her full comments:

"There’s no amount of money worth going against my morals or changing the stance I’ve had since I first saw and heard the things that made me feel this strongly. And for me personally, continuing to directly profit from this behavior feels wrong and unethical. It feels like a disservice to the children, everyone’s healing and the millions of people watching."

Soon after Mikayla Matthews' announcement, fans flocked to Reddit and extended their support. One user wrote:

"Same, and good for Mikayla. They shouldn’t be forced to be subject to TFP’s volatile mood swings and abusive behavior, and I hope the other women follow suit."

Despite Taylor Frankie Paul's alleged altercation scandal, Hulu continued to feature her in the latest season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. In addition to Mikayla Matthews, Paul's return did not sit right with many fans.

One user wrote:

"So she is also confirming that I should skip the new season - was hoping they had moved on from the Taylor storylines. Last season was super uncomfortable to watch. Not doing it again."
"Production thinks we all wanna see Taylor Felon Paul. No we do not!! Get her off our screens!" wrote another user on Reddit

Despite sharing how The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has helped her provide for her family, Mikayla Matthews has decided to step back from the show over Paul's return. While Hulu has not commented on the latest exit, it remains to be seen if the network will address the fan backlash over Paul's return.

All five episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 are streaming on Hulu.
