HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series has added three new cast members to Season 1, and one of them is a character book fans have been waiting to see on screen. As reported by Variety, Harry Gilby will play Charlie Weasley. For fans, it will be an interesting character to look forward to, as Charlie never appeared in the original movies on screen, despite being an important part of the Weasley family.

Other cast members include Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn as James and Lily Potter, Harry's parents. Although these two characters have appeared in the movies before, their addition to the upcoming series of Harry Potter gives the viewers another look at the people who played a very important part in the protagonist's life.

Malice star Harry Gilby will play Charlie Weasley in the upcoming Harry Potter series. The actor's other famous works include Tolkien, Boarders, and The Last Kingdom. Charlie is the elder brother of Ron and the second-oldest of the seven Weasley siblings. The movies didn't feature Charlie, while the books mention him.

But with the new HBO series, the character is getting his own moment on screen. This is also good news for book fans who want to see more of the little details that the movies left out.

HBO had already hinted at Charlie Weasley's role in August last year, when it shared a picture of Ginny, Percy, Ron, and the Weasley twins with a caption mentioning that Charlie was in Romania but would be joining the family soon.

Along with Ron's brother, fans of Harry Potter will also get to see Harry's parents in the series. Jasper Talbot, who has previously starred in Ruthless and Broadchurch, will appear as James. The Conjuring: Last Rites star Hannah Chinn will appear as Lily Potter. Her other famous works include The Trap, Malpractice, and Possession.

James and Lily Potter are important to Harry's story, and they even appear in many flashbacks and scenes. Their casting also brings an interesting detail about their looks into the picture. The series departs from the books' eye-color descriptions for Lily and James. In the books, Lily has green eyes, the same color as Harry's. On the other hand, James has hazel eyes.

The movies didn't fully follow every detail, and the HBO series has made its own changes, too. Jasper Talbot, who will play James, has blue eyes, matching the actor who is playing Harry, Dominic McLaughlin. Hannah Chinn, meanwhile, has hazel eyes as Lily. James now has the blue eyes that Harry has in the series, while Lily has hazel eyes. It's a small change from the books, but one that fans may notice when they see Harry's parents on screen.

While the first season premieres on HBO on December 25, Season 2, based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, is already filming near London, as reported by Variety. In the series, Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley. Other key cast members include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Hagrid.

Francesca Gardiner leads the writing team, while Mark Mylod directs multiple episodes, with J.K. Rowling, David Heyman, and others on board as executive producers. HBO has yet to reveal who will play Voldemort, leaving fans waiting for the biggest casting announcement of the series.
