"He's already over it": Fallon jokes about Donald Trump greeting Xi Jinping for White House visit

President Donald Trump is hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping for a two-day state visit. Clips of Trump welcoming Xi Jinping and talking to him have been circulating on the internet.

Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, has reported on the welcoming ceremony and joked about Donald Trump and Xi Jinping's expressions.

In the September 24, 2026 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon talked about President Xi Jinping's 2-day state visit to the United States and how President Donald Trump welcomed him. Part of that welcome was a military flyover.

The show played a short clip from the military flyover in which we see Donald Trump standing next to Xi Jinping. Trump appears to be slightly wincing most likely because of the heavy wind and noise caused by the flyover. Fallon made fun of Donald Trump's expression. He said:

"It's like he just saw his approval rating. You know? He's just like, "Ooh.""

Fallon then humorously talked about President Xi Jinping's expression, which was quite different from Trump's. Xi Jinping's eyes were closed, most likely because the wind was strong and keeping his eyes open was difficult in that situation. Fallon humorously suggested that President Xi Jinping's eyes were closed because he was frustrated by the visit already.

Fallon joked:

"Meanwhile, look at President Xi when it happened. Yeah. 10 minutes into his visit, he's already over it. You know what I'm saying?"

Fallon then went on to state that President Trump held a state dinner at the White House in honor of President Xi. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host also joked about what the menu at the fancy dinner might have been. He jokingly guessed:

"The menu for tonight's dinner included sesame-crusted sea bass, braised baby bok choy, roasted garden eggplant, and two Big Macs with large fries and a Diet Coke."

Moreover, Fallon also talked about how President Xi has gifted America two panda bears. The pandas are a gesture of diplomatic goodwill and soft power known as Panda diplomacy. Fallon jokingly said that Trump might have gifted back a raccoon. He also presented a hypothetical and funny version of what Trump and Xi's conversation at the state dinner could have been.

Fallon reported what has been happening regarding the state visit in short, while cracking a few jokes. None of it is to be taken as facts.
