The Terminal List Season 2 is coming soon, but before you stream it, make sure to go back and revisit the important plot points. Season 1 opens with Navy SEAL Lt. Cmdr. James Reece (Chris Pratt) leading Alpha Platoon on a mission in Syria.
Their target is Iranian specialist Jahan Kahani, linked to chemical weapons. When ambushed by the team, the operation becomes a disaster. A dozen or so SEALs are killed, and only Reece and Ernest "Boozer" Vickers survive after being extracted.
At home, Reece suffers from severe headaches, memory problems, and conflicting memories of the mission. He begins to wonder what really happened, and whether he had anything to do with the deaths. While Reece is having a medical scan, attackers strike using his own 9mm pistol.
When Reece reaches home, he finds out that his wife and young daughter have been killed. After experiencing this personal loss along with doubts about the Syria mission, he concludes that these events were deliberately arranged and that he must settle the score as soon as possible.

The conspiracy unravels in The Terminal List Season 1
The story in The Terminal List Season 1 continues, and Reece joins with reporter Katie Buranek to find out why the Syria operation went so wrong. Their investigation eventually leads them to RD-4895, an experimental treatment connected to Reece’s brain tumour.
The drug was designed to prevent PTSD by blocking the way traumatic experiences are encoded in the brain. Instead, it gave the SEALs tumours, memory loss, and other grave effects.
RD-4895 was supplied by Nubellum Pharmaceuticals, an entity under Capstone Industries. Senior military officials, including Adm. Gerald Pillar, Cmdr. Bill Cox, and JAG Capt. Howard, had secretly approved testing without the soldiers’ consent.
It is revealed in the series that Capstone CEO Steve Horn also had a financial reason to protect the program. A successful drug could increase the company’s value ahead of a potential sale, making the failed trial a serious threat.
To hide the consequences, false intelligence was used to compromise the Syria mission. CIA operative Ben Edwards helps Reece investigate, while Reece begins assembling the terminal list of people he holds responsible.
The vengeance campaign in The Terminal List Season 1
As Reece continues his mission in The Terminal List Season 1, the conspiracy becomes clear to him. He connects the dots and also decides to pursue everyone connected to the operation and its cover-up.
His list includes people involved in the killing of his wife and daughter and the attack on him. Not only that, but he also decides to find out the people behind the secret drug program.
As Reece's campaign begins, he receives assistance from Ben Edwards and pilot Liz Riley as his allies. Meanwhile, FBI agent Tony Layun leads the effort to capture Reece, who is now considered a fugitive.
Reece targets Josh Holder and another surviving assassin involved in the attack on his family. He then moves in on Capstone, killing executives Saul Agnon and Steve Horn as he works his way through the conspiracy.
Military officials are involved in RD-4895 with Reece. Cox drowns, and Howard and Pillar are killed in a bombing related to Reece’s campaign.
Katie approaches the scandal differently. She uses her reporting to reveal the government and corporate sides of the scandal. Eventually, Reece confronts Defence Secretary Lorraine Hartley, who signed off on the program. She kills herself instead of facing up to it.
The finale betrayal and aftermath in The Terminal List Season 1 explained
The biggest shock in The Terminal List Season 1 comes when Reece finds out that one of his best allies, Ben Edwards, was part of the conspiracy. Ben had profited from a shell company and supplied the false CIA intelligence that was used to set up the ambush in Syria.
Ben says he thought the SEALs were already doomed to die from the tumours caused by RD-4895. He believes the operation gave them a quicker end, but says Reece’s family was never meant to be targeted.
The revelation leaves Ben the last name on Reece’s list. Their confrontation takes place in Peru, where they initially planned to conceal themselves.
At the end of The Terminal List Season 1, Katie's reporting plays a big role in uncovering more about the scandal. And as the chapter closes, all the events leave a big impact on Reece.
