Hollywood Arts midseason ending explained: Emmy falls for Oscar's biggest rival

In Hollywood Arts, Emmy, played by Alyssa Miles, falls for Mateo, played by Zac Bellward. However, their story isn't as smooth as it seemed in the beginning, as she learns that Mateo is her brother Oscar's biggest rival.
Trina signed everyone up for the Renaissance Faire. The students weren't happy about it at first. But for Emmy, her love story hit it off with Mateo. According to Netflix Life, Emmy and Oscar seemed to be getting along pretty well. But if Oscar comes to know about Mateo, it will definitely ruin their bond to some extent.
After learning about them, as predicted, Oscar was not happy at all, as he felt betrayed by his own sister. As a result, he tells his sister to choose between him and Mateo. On the other hand, Oscar also believed that Emmy was just being used by Mateo.

In Hollywood Arts, Oscar even warns Mateo not to talk to his sister ever again, but Mateo just walks away, letting Oscar cool down a bit. Oscar even tries to convince Emmy that Mateo is just using her, but she doesn't agree with him. Later, Mateo meets Emmy in private, and Emmy learns that Mateo actually likes her, and he is not pretending about his feelings.
Mateo told her about the sign-up sheet he saw in the hallway for the Renaissance Faire happening next week in Modesto and asked her to sign up, hoping to spend time with Emmy without Oscar getting in the way. Emmy says yes to the plan, and Mateo also gives her a kiss on the hand as a sweet gesture.
But just then Oscar sees them together and asks Emmy if Mateo is still using her. She makes it clear to her brother that she and Mateo have signed up for another Renaissance Faire next weekend.
Hollywood Arts midseason ending explained: Mateo reaches out to Emmy after their misunderstanding
In Episode 12, Oscar asks Emmy to cross her name off the list, hoping that Emmy would choose her brother's side. Emmy and Trina had a plan of their own as they crossed Emmy's name off the list, showing Oscar that she was not going with Mateo. Trina was supposed to guard the place in case Mateo came to tell her that it wasn't true. But she soon left that place.
After seeing Emmy's name crossed off the sign-up board, Mateo also crossed his name, deciding not to go to the Renaissance Faire. By the time Emmy comes back, it's too late, as she sees Mateo's name crossed off the list. Later, Emmy talks to her friends as she says that maybe it wasn't meant to be from the beginning, as Mateo is her brother's rival, and he even crossed his name.
But just then she receives a text from Mateo, in which he asks her for one more try, and Emmy says yes once again. This leaves one big question hanging: how will Oscar react when he finds out that Emmy has decided to give Mateo another chance despite his warnings?
