Tristan found his love in All Creatures Great and Small Season 6. Charlotte Beauvoir, General Beauvoir's daughter, fell in love with Tristan when he visited to treat her horse Philbrick. After a few initial hiccups, General Beauvoir approved of Tristan. Tristan brought Charlotte to Skeldale House as well. Since Tristan returned from Sicily, he was fighting a silent battle. The war traumas become overwhelming for him. He finally let it all out to Siegfried.

In Episode 6, after he overcame his fears, he confessed to Charlotte that the war had changed his perspective; he isn't the same guy he used to be in the past. Before Tristan could explain his complex feelings, Charlotte described them perfectly, which left Tristan stunned. It's like Charlotte knows exactly what he feels like.

In Episode 7 of All Creatures Great and Small Season 6, when Tristan forgets to arrange a Christmas tree for the Drovers, he asks for Charlotte's help. Charlotte tells him to visit the Christmas tree farm. Unfortunately, when they reach, they find it closed due to the owner's illness. Charlotte sneaks into the farm, and a hesitant Tristan follows. When Tristan begins to cut the tree with a small axe, it gets stuck, and he rants that it does not feel right to celebrate when he has witnessed such tragic scenes on the battlefield. Charlotte also reveals that they celebrated Christmas in November last year because they thought her mother wouldn't make it up to December. Charlotte meant to say that everybody is fighting their own battles, and some people are too good at not showing. When Tristan almost gives up, Charlotte tells,

"Even the longest hardest winters will end and spring will come."

She then kisses Tristan. While kissing him, she notices some spare axes, and they rush to get them. This instantly lifts Tristan's mood. As Charlotte was busy sliding the tree across the fence, Tristan realized how much effort she made for him. He finally confessed that he loves her. Later, they spent their Christmas Eve together at the Drovers', where Tristan raised a toast for Arthur and all those who had lost their lives in the war.

In a candid chat with PBS Masterpiece, Callum Woodhouse said,

"She's (Charlotte) not trying to cure him. She's not trying to change him back. She's just trying to make this version of him happy. And I think they do that for each other. I love it."

Woodhouse appreciated her All Creatures Great and Small Season 6 co-star Gaia Wise and said,

"I think Gaia [Wise], who plays Charlotte, is one of the most wonderful actresses I've gotten to work with. She was a joy to play all those scenes with, she's just spectacular. And I think our chemistry is wonderful, so I really lucked out in finding someone that I get along with."
