Undercover Boss is back with Drew Carey and CBS is adding two new high-stakes game shows

CBS is rebooting Undercover Boss for a 12th season, and this time, the show will have a host. The earlier version of the show did not have a traditional host and featured bosses working undercover at their own companies as entry-level employees. This time around, Undercover Boss will be hosted by Drew Carey.

CBS is also adding two more unscripted shows to its lineup: Stacks of Cash and 24 Hour Millionaire.

Undercover Boss gets a new host in Drew Carey

Created by Stephen Lambert, Undercover Boss first aired on CBS from 2010 to 2022 for 11 seasons. CBS is now bringing back the show for Season 12. While the format of the show isn't going to change much, it will have a host for the first time in its history. Drew Carey, who is known for hosting The Price Is Right and Whose Line Is It Anyway?, is going to host Undercover Boss Season 12.

Undercover Boss is executive produced by Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Abigail McCarthy, and Niall O’Driscoll. Studio Lambert is the production studio behind the show. Undercover Boss is currently in the pre-production stage.

CBS is bringing its viewers 2 new shows

Besides Undercover Boss getting rebooted, CBS is also bringing 2 new unscripted shows with exciting formats.

Stacks of Cash

One of them is Stacks of Cash, which will be hosted by Mike O’Malley. Six players will play quizzes and compete for the final prize.

As Deadline reports, CBS' description for the game is as follows:

Players answer questions to earn uniquely shaped blocks, then stack their way toward a gold line. One wrong move can send everything crashing down.

Stacks of Cash is executive produced by Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost, Sonya Wilkes, David Tibballs, Ves D’Elia, and Ed Egan. The show's format will be based on a format developed by Eureka Studios Group Pty Ltd and Seven Network Limited. The show was filmed in Portugal and is currently in post-production.

24 Hour Millionaire

The other new unscripted series that CBS is bringing to its viewers is 24 Hour Millionaire. As the title suggests, players will be competing for 24 hours to become the sole winner to get the $1 million prize money. 24 Hour Millionaire is executive produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan. The production company behind the show is Fly on the Wall Entertainment.

CBS' description of the show is as follows:

In this ticking time bomb of strategy and gameplay, they will face off in groundbreaking series where thinking fast is essential; assessing threats is critical and performing under pressure is crucial. With no breaks and no rest, the pressure builds as the clock ticks down over an intense 24 hours, pushing even the most accomplished competitors to their limits.

The show is currently in pre-production.

As Deadline reports, EVP of alternative series at CBS Mitch Graham spoke about the shows, saying:

“These orders reflect our commitment to building a deep year-round unscripted slate with formats that are ambitious, entertaining and distinctly CBS,”

He continued:

“We couldn’t think of a better time to bring back a re-imagined version of Boss, with Drew Carey serving as our host through undercover journeys that tap into the heart and authenticity of hard-working employees that audiences have always loved seeing. Our new series Stacks of Cash delivers another fun, appealing family game show and 24 Hour Millionaire gives us an exciting new format that feels incredibly groundbreaking in the competition space.”

A date of release for Undercover Boss, Stacks of Cash, and 24 Hour Millionaire is yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for more updates.
