“Hyacinth is really trying to join in”: Bridgerton star Florence Hunt discusses her character’s ‘desperation’ to join her elder siblings in Season 4

Netflix's regency-era drama, Bridgerton, is back with a new season. Season 4 of the fan-favorite drama follows the Cinderella-like love story of Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. While their story began like a fairy tale, the ending of Part 1 of Season 4 broke the illusion when Benedict asked Sophie to become his mistress.

Apart from Benedict and Francesca's story, there is another Bridgerton sibling who is garnering everyone's attention this season. Florence Hunt, who plays Hyacinth, is one of the youngest siblings and has been a part of the show since Season 1. However, her role has gradually increased this season, as she can be seen wanting to join her older siblings at the ball. Hunt, who also has an older sister, described in her Variety interview that her character now wants to be a part of the 'journey' her older siblings are on and further stated:

"You want to be on the same level as them, and Hyacinth is really trying to join in with her older siblings."

As Season 4 of Bridgerton focuses on Benedict and Sophie's love story and also highlights Francesca's story with Michaela, it is also seen that, along with her older siblings, Hyacinth also wants to be a part of all this. She has been desperate to debut and be a part of the society that her siblings are.

During an interview with Variety, Florence Hunt, who plays Hyacinth, talked about how, as a younger sibling, she understands what her character might be feeling. She explained that this was her way of exposing herself to the things her elder siblings were allowed to do, but she wasn't.

To add to her previous comment, she said:

"I think [it’s] natural when you’re younger, and you have a sibling that you look up to. Hyacinth’s got seven older siblings, and they’re going through these adult situations, and her main exposure to the world is through her siblings. As a younger child, you’re desperate to get there and join them on that journey, but you can’t quite comprehend the fact that you’re younger and that can’t happen yet."

In one of the scenes, it is also revealed that Hynacinth tried to sneak in the balls several times and also found a way to get a dress and a mask for the masquerade ball that she was not allowed to go to. When asked about how she found all the things required to attend the ball, Hunt revealed that, according to her, Hyacinth had been 'raiding' her siblings' wardrobes since she was a child, and that might not have been her first. She also thinks that maybe one of Hyacinth's own siblings, such as Francesca, might have also helped her out in situations like these.
