Jimmy Fallon thinks President Donald Trump's 32-day campaign trail, ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, sounds less like politics and more like a road trip that desperately needs a playlist.
On the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host roasted the President's intense travel schedule in 17 states, which even saw a weekend road trip from Texas to Oklahoma. Fallon joked that Trump must have felt "pretty inspired by his road trip" and jokingly imagined him singing classic road-trip hits on the way.
The show then featured a comedic, parody audio track mimicking Donald Trump's singing, titled President Trump Sings Road Trip Classics. The segment opened with Willie Nelson's popular 1980 song On the Road Again, with these altered lyrics:
"On the road again. I just can't wait for you all to vote again. The life I love is campaignin' for all my friends. And if you vote for them, I'll give you $5000."
According to AP News, the remark refers to Donald Trump's promise of a $5,000 "Trump Dividend" check to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans keep control of both the House and the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.
Jimmy Fallon mocks Donald Trump's road trip with a hilarious parody
The late-night host has frequently used Trump’s speeches, social media posts, and public appearances as fodder for satire. This time, Fallon turned his attention to Donald Trump's 32-day campaign, ahead of the midterm elections. The parody did not end with Willie Nelson’s country classic.
The segment also featured a political twist on rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1974 highest-charting single, Sweet Home Alabama, with the following altered lyrics:
"Sweet home, I hate Obama!"
The lyrics parodied Donald Trump's public criticism of former President Barack Obama. In the President's social media spree last Sunday, he shared a meme calling Obama more corrupt than the 37th U.S. President, Richard Nixon.
Gary Numan's most successful 1979 single, Cars, was also given a spot on Trump's road trip playlist, with the following altered lyric:
"Here is my catering truck. I feel safest of all. I can eat all the snacks, like these Terra Blue chips. In my catering truck."
The parody likely refers to the July 2026 incident, when Donald Trump allegedly used an elevated airport catering truck to secretly switch planes in Turkey, after receiving intel about an Iranian assassination threat. The incident drew backlash because the journalists and Trump's staff traveling in Air Force One were unaware of this decoy.
Jimmy Fallon capped the segment with a hilarious spin on Journey's 1981 signature song Don't Stop Believin', with these altered lyrics:
"Just a small town girl living in a lonely world. (Wow! Is this song about Melania)."
After the parody sketch, Jimmy Fallon took further jabs at Donald Trump and mentioned two highlight moments from his Ohio rally. The comedian roasted the President on his 'Just pretend I'm running' midterms comments, saying that's what Trump says 'during the blood-pressure portion of his physical.'
Secondly, the comedian showed a clip of Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy almost dropping a 10-year-old kid while picking him up. Fallon had a funny response to the clip:
"It's fun to have a video of the exact moment you lost your campaign. That's right."
