Jimmy Fallon has found a creative way to put Donald Trump in the hot seat. This time, the comedian is not holding back. After the Republican Party suffered a sweeping defeat in the 2026 midterm elections, losing control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to the Democrats, the Tonight Show host imagined what an interview with the President might look like.

Turning Trump's political fallout into his signature late-night sharp humour, Fallon's staged interview with the President created a hilarious segment while also raising uncomfortable questions that would hardly make for an actual conversation in the White House.

Jimmy Fallon started the segment with a strong question:

"Overall, what do you think the message was from voters?"

The Tonight Show chose a hilarious Trump clip to play in response to Fallon's question:

"I've done a sh***y job as President."

Jimmy Fallon puts Trump in the 'hot seat' after the midterms

The Republicans' sweeping loss in the midterms was part of Jimmy Fallon's opening monologue in the recent episode of The Tonight Show. The comedian was quick to take a jab at the Republicans for losing the 'Waffle House states', as the Democrats 'flipped 7 Senate seats, including North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.'

The segment took an interesting turn as Fallon took out his notepad and pen and put the President on the hot seat after the Republicans' midterm loss. The segment stitched together clips from the President's speeches and converted them into a hilarious midterm 'interview'. Fallon introduced the segment as:

"Everybody is talking about what a big setback this is for Trump. So he's actually agreed to join us right now for a quick interview."

Fallon fired away his first question, asking how the President was doing after the Republicans' sweeping defeat. Rubbing salt in the wound, Fallon asked:

"Mr. Trump thank you for joining us. Did it go well last night?"

One of the President's clips from an old speech appeared on cue:

"Not even a little bit."

A series of questions followed:

"It seems like you lost support from voters who liked you in the past. Who are some of those voters?"

This question had a one-word answer as another clip played, where the President answered 'Melania.'

Fallon fired another question:

"Ohio senator Jon Husted lost his race. You loved complimenting his body during the campaign. If he were here, what would you say to him?"

Another clip from one of the President's speeches played:

"Daddy, you're my daddy."

The Tonight Show host wrapped up the segment by giving the President a cognitive test. Fallon asked the President to 'repeat' after him:

"Lion, bear, snake, camel."

Taking a clip from the President's remarks in North Carolina, this clip ended the segment on a high note:

"A lion, a giraffe, a fish and a hippopotamus."

As political tensions continue to dominate conversations, Fallon's latest sketch adds a comedic spin to the aftermath of the midterms. The segment is another pointed late-night take on Trump, with Fallon using humour to turn a politically charged moment into an entertaining exchange.
