I Will Find You is Netflix's latest thriller miniseries, based on Harlan Coben's eponymous 2023 novel. Starring Sam Worthington and Britt Lower in key roles, the miniseries follows David, a former law professor serving a life sentence after being framed for murdering his son, as he teams up with his ex-sister-in-law, Rachel, after discovering shocking evidence that suggests his son Matthew might be alive.
The fifth episode of I Will Find You finally sheds light on Matthew's disappearance by featuring a flashback from years ago. Detective Muller, who was working in the Federal Office of Police in Geneva, discovered a child named Martin on a crime scene and placed him in an orphanage. However, Martin disappeared from the orphanage, which brings us to the present, where Muller received news about Matthew's disappearance, who strangely fit Martin's physical description.

I Will Find You Episode 5 recap: David on a quest to find Lenny
The fifth episode of I Will Find You saw David and Rachel trying to find Lenny, unaware that he was taken at gunpoint by an unknown gunman, while searching through Liam Fisher's case files in the previous episode. Thanks to David's familiarity with the neighborhood, the duo managed to sneak through some bootlegging tunnels, but Williams and Greer were still hot on their tail.
Sophie, who revealed Lenny's cancer diagnosis to the duo, tried to hide Rachel and David in a closet but was eventually arrested for obstruction. However, she revealed that Lenny was likely taken by Fisher, who might also have a hand in Matthew's kidnapping.
Elsewhere, Greer got his hands on the Fisher case files in I Will Find You Episode 5 and discovered that Lenny and Philip arrested Fisher for murder, who was tragically killed in prison.
What's up with Gertrude in I Will Find You Episode 5?
In I Will Find You Episode 5, Gertrude left no chance of outing Rachel and David. She revealed to Hayden that she had made an official police complaint about Rachel stealing Hayden's gun, which was later discovered in Washington Square Park.
While Gertrude is unbothered, Hayden still cares about Rachel and warned her that he was asked to provide all the security footage from the apartment. However, he deleted the footage, suggesting that he is loyal to Rachel.
Elsewhere, Ronald confessed to lying about the bus accident to see Cheryl, which sent her on a guilt trip as she could have saved her son. While Rachel believes that Ronald is not behind Matthew's kidnapping, Cheryl was spiraling, which forced her sister to show her the Six Flags image and reveal the details about Matthew's whereabouts.
I Will Find You Episode 5 took a turn when Rachel noticed the date on the photograph, which was when Gertrude's company had rented the entire park. Impressed with Hayden's earlier talk, she called him to reveal this new development. Elsewhere, Gertrude met with William's boss, Special Agent D’Souza, hinting at her connection to Matthew's kidnapping.
David kidnapped Nicky's daughter in I Will Find You Episode 5

In the final moments of I Will Find You Episode 5, David, who was desperate to find Nicky Fisher, teamed up with Adam to locate his whereabouts. Since Fisher was semi-retired, his daughter Lena was their only saviour. While Adam was against using Lena as bait, David left and held the girl at gunpoint, demanding that she call her father. However, David's plan was turned on its head as Skunk and his goons arrived just in time, allowing Lena to tase David unconscious.
The concluding moments revealed that Adam was working with Nicky Fisher, who took David to a private airfield with Skunk, where Fisher's plane was waiting to take them to Key West. In a brutal confrontation, Greer killed Skunk after he shot at Williams, while David and Adam made a run for it in Fisher's plane. David woke up in Florida only to be punched in the face by Nicky as the episode cut to black.
