Soon after, the same fans were seen trespassing in his house without getting caught on the CCTV footage, after which he even expressed his wish to live a free life and how he is a victim here. However, viewers also see Se Na, who is also a die-hard fan of Ra-Ik and Gold Boys, keeping her boundaries and not crossing them even after becoming his attorney, showing how real fan love can be.How does Idol I show the difference between fan love and unhealthy celebrity obsession? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe main lead of Idol I, Ra-Ik, was the vocalist of the Gold Boys band. While having a successful life and thousands of loyal fans, the drama also shows him dealing with anxiety and even taking medication for it.In the first few episodes, Ra-Ik's manager and CEO even gets annoyed at him for getting angry at his fans after they trespassed in his house. Ra-Ik is seen complaining about being the victim, and he wants to be free. However, Geum makes it clear that he can leave the agency and be free, indirectly stating that as long as he is a celebrity, he has to deal with these incidents.Even though it is wrong, Ra-Ik has to face the consequences, which showed the unhealthy obsession fans had with him, without respecting his privacy or his boundaries. In episode 2 of Idol I, when Maeng Se Na interrogates these fans, they justify their actions by saying:"We're not stalkers. We did it because we love him. Isn't that what love is? Wanting to get closer, wanting to see him, wanting to take care of him more."On the other hand, viewers see Se Na, who, even after being a big fan of Ra-Ik, doesn't cross the boundary until Ra-Ik opens up to her. She kept her liking for Gold Boys private and even told the two trespassers that:"If you truly loved him (Ra-Ik), you could never do something like that. Real love is watching the path he walks from far, far away. Supporting him and wishing for his happiness with all your heart."Se Na even thanked Ra-Ik and his music for saving her life after her father hanged himself in prison. And while she also collected tickets and merch like other fans in the series, she was seen supporting him quietly without disturbing his personal boundary.Due to the unhealthy celebrity obsession, Ra-Ik wasn't sure about revealing her and Hye-Joo's status, even when they were dating. He even fires Se Na after finding out that she is his fan because of the past traumatic experiences. In the final episode of Idol I, viewers see a positive shift as Ra-Ik's fans step up to protect his privacy, showing that obsession can transform into genuine care and support. The same fans who were invading his privacy in the beginning asked reporter Baek to delete Ra-Ik and Se Na's photo, demanding that he let them live in peace.Jae-hee also points out that the fans love Se Na, showing that they've accepted Ra-Ik's personal life without imposing their own opinions. Jae-hee even uploads a post revealing their actual location and tells their manager that no one will show up, adding that the fans have formed a privacy protection squad, pretending not to recognize them in public so they can live freely. At the end of Idol I, Ra-Ik with his band held a concert for the fans, indirectly thanking them for the support. The drama shows repeatedly how admiration in an unhealthy amount becomes obsession. Though its positive ending shows how genuine fan love can turn from obsession into respect.Follow Soap Central for more updates!
