Netflix's If Wishes Could Kill has brought the K-thriller genre back to the streaming platform. The thriller K-drama follows the story of how a cursed app destroys the lives of a group of high school student after luring them in with the promise of fulfilling their wish.
As the story progresses, we meet several other crucial characters, such as Haetsal and her shamanic partner Bangwool, who help the teenagers rid themselves of the app and the evil spirit attached to it. However, while doing that, they experience loss and also suffer through traumatic situations. While the teenagers lost two of their friends, Haetsal and Bangwool survive, with the latter also gaining a new power in If Wishes Could Kill.
More on this in our story.
If Wishes Could Kill: Bangwool survives at the end of the Netflix series

In Episode 2 of If Wishes Could Kill, it is revealed that Haetsal (Jeon So-nee) was Ha-joon's older sister, and Bangwool (Roh Jae-won) her partner. After Se-ah makes her wish in the Girigo app to save Geon-woo, her timer goes off. That's when Ha-joon decides to take her to his sister's secret compound.
There, Bangwool and Hatesal try to help Se-ah get out of three doors in the cursed realm to get rid of the curse. Both shamans help Se-ah in getting out of the realm, but later find out that Si-won's spirit has possessed Na-ri, one of Se-ah's friends. When Se-ah and Ha-joon return to their school to learn the source of the app, Si-won tries to harm them.
However, the spirit fails as Bangwool protects them and saves Geon-woo from being killed, leaving him injured as Si-won attacks him with glass shards. While he is attacked, he also gains a unique power when he suddenly begins to see Si-won controlling Na-ri.
Later, in If Wishes Could Kill, Bangwool and Haetsal both put their lives on the line to protect the teenagers, and at the end, even succeed. While Bangwool survives numerous attacks from the evil spirit, whether it is good or not is still questionable. At the end of the thriller K-drama, Bangwool reveals that, as he is now connected to the spirit world, he can help Haetsal get out of the compound, which was impossible for her earlier, due to her being the target of evil spirits lurking around.
While it seems a good thing at first, the K-drama ends with showing Bangwool's right eye changing color, which might suggest a greater threat to the group. It is speculated that when Si-won attacked him in the school, a part of her was left with Bangwool. This further hints that in a potential Season 2, Bangwool, possessed by Si-won, might try to get Haetsal out of the compound to attack her, as she is the reason Se-ah was able to destroy her app and the curse that she had put in it.
However, these speculations can only be answered if Netflix renews the thriller K-drama for another Season.
