Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4, titled My Eye, My Call, aired on NBC on October 28. Following Officer Kevin Atwater's exit, Voight recruited a new member after a young beat cop teamed up with them on the latest case.
According to One Chicago Center, the latest episode of Chicago P.D. Season 14 introduced young beat cop Donovan "Penny" Watts (played by Naiqui Macabroad), who had patrolled the 11th district for the past six years. Voight connected the latest homicide and robbery in Watts' district to the escalating gun violence of the 4 Corner Boys, who likely had a hand in LaSean's death in the previous episode.
After Watts got wind of the latest murder, he teamed up with Intelligence to solve the case, which eventually resulted in him joining the Unit as a new member.
Here's what happened in Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4.
Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4 introduced a new officer with impressive instincts
As the Intelligence team arrived on the scene in Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4, Officer Watts led them to the getaway car. Ruzek and Watts found a wrapper inside the car, which the latter recognized from a nearby corner store. Footage from a secret camera revealed three young low-level slingers for the Corner Boys buying something from the store. As Ruzek left to do facial recognition on the suspects, Voight dismissed Watts. While Watts' partner suggested they should not get involved, Watts' instincts told him that the homicide was likely an inside job.
Back at the precinct, Voight suspected the case was connected to LaSean's death in the previous episode of Chicago P.D. Season 14 and wanted Intelligence to solve it. Ruzek and Burgess revealed to Voight that Watts' instincts were right. Meanwhile, Watts continued his off-the-books investigation, which led him to a lead named Trez Brown.
The lead led Intelligence and Watts to an arcade, where a suspect tried to shoot Voight and Burgess, but Watts saved the day. Watts eventually threatened the suspect to give up the code to his phone, which resulted in the showdown.
Voight recruited Watts in Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4

As the Intelligence team fished out information from the phone in Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4, Voight asked Watts to return home. However, Watts sprang into action when he heard Voight's update on the radio. The team tracked the stolen cash to a home and Watts was the first to arrive. The young officer noticed the stolen minivan parked outside the house and informed Voight. Despite Voight's orders, Watts entered the house after he heard fighting from within and a child's screams from a broken screen door.
Watts saw two suspects holding a woman and her child at gunpoint. While Watts tried to defuse the situation, the team was forced to take action, which resulted in one perp's death and the other being handcuffed.
In the final moments of Chicago P.D. Season 14 Episode 4, Voight finally invited Watts to join his unit, revealing that he was impressed with his work on the case and his record. However, Voight was curious about the sealed documents from his time in Durham. Watts admitted that he was legally not allowed to disclose information about the records. With nothing left to discuss, Voight finally offered Watts to join his Unit, which he accepted. Now that Intelligence has gained a new member after Atwater's exit, it remains to be seen how it will shake things inside the precinct.
