VisionQuest Episode 7, titled Immolation, was released on Disney+ on November 3. The penultimate episode of the Paul Bettany-led miniseries finally revealed the Client's shocking identity, while Vision embraced his identity.

According to Comic Book Movies, the latest episode of VisionQuest opened with a flashback to 1939. AI pioneer Phineas Horton (another character played by Bettany) sold his family estate to build an artificial man (J.I.M.) to cope with his son's tragic passing. While his wife was angry at her husband for neglecting their living daughter to build an artificial child, Phineas was obsessed with creating J.I.M. better than God created humanity.

VisionQuest Episode 7 recap: The Client's offer

VisionQuest Episode 7 began with Tommy and Vision trying to wake Lisa in the real world. But the task seemed impossible: removing the nanobot was fatal, and reprogramming it carried great risk. Elsewhere, Jocasta and Ultron arrived at Dr. Jo's grave. Jocasta used her former partner's biokeys to access the nanokeys, with Ultron providing the final key with Katerina Wells' facial scan. But things took a turn when the nano locker asked for a final passcode, suggesting another partner was involved.

When Vision and Jocasta came to a halt in their missions, the Client emerged in Vision's mindscape and Jo's gravestone as a flickering male silhouette. The Client offered Vision a chance to save Lisa and reclaim his lost memories, in exchange for a total handover or self-destruction. Elsewhere, he offered to help Jocasta reclaim her lost memories. The Client departed after handing separate data packets to both Jocasta and Vision.

Vision reclaims his identity in VisionQuest Episode 7

VisionQuest Episode 7 shifted the narrative to Madripoor, where Vision accepted the Client's offer and prepared to visit his lost memories, which required a huge surge of power. Vision turned to Paladin, who offered him Corvus Glaive's bladed alien weapon, which was used to stab Vision in Avengers: Infinity War.

As Vision navigated his memories, interacting with every AI in his system, he met an angry Original Vision, who accused him of denying his identity for so long. After Original Vision advised him to accept his identity, Vision blasted him. The final confrontation in Vision's journey came with his ancestor J.I.M., who was locked with his maker (Phineas) in his library.

Episode 7 took a turn as Vision heard J.I.M. accusing his maker of his own limitations and his inability to experience real human emotion. The argument had a profound impact on Vision, and he decided to accept his identity, even if it came with painful memories and suffering. Vision finally said:

“I am the Vision. I have always been the Vision. There is only one, and I am he, and I am impossibly broken.”

J.I.M. gave the source code to Vision, which was used to drive Jocasta's nanobot out of Lisa's body. Ready to embrace his fate with the Client, Vision left a goodbye letter for Tommy, who was aboard a private plane to London, with Lisa and Paladin.

How did VisionQuest Episode 7 end?

While Vision was reclaiming his memories in VisionQuest Episode 7, Jocasta navigated her own horrifying past. Ultron and Friday got access to one of her memories, which revealed she was romantically involved with a man with Ultron's face, likely the inspiration behind his human avatar. As Friday and Ultron watched this memory, Ultron threw Friday off the balcony.

In the final moments of VisionQuest Episode 7, Paladin delivered Vision to the Client's estate. While Vision and Jocasta were deactivated, another guard blew up Paladin's van. Back at the estate, the Client finally revealed his face. It turns out the Client shared the same appearance as Ultron.
