Interview with the Vampire stars reveal the real-life rock legends behind Lestat's transformation

Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson from Interview with the Vampire have opened up about the real-life rock icons who shaped Lestat de Lioncourt's transformation, including David Bowie, Radiohead, and other legendary artists.

In a latest interview with RadioTimes, Sam Reid, who plays Lestat de Lioncourt, and Jacob Anderson, who plays Louis de Pointe du Lac in Interview with the Vampire, were asked about the inspiration behind Lestat's rock star transformation in the series.

Answering the question, Sam Reid took the name of Muse, a 1990s rock band, Kurt Cobain, the founding member of Nirvana, and Radiohead, a Grammy-winning rock band.

These rock legends helped shape Lestat's transformation in Interview with the Vampire

In the latest interview, along with taking the names of Radiohead, Kurt Cobain, and Muse, who inspired Lestat's transformation to a rock star, Sam Reid also took the name of David Bowie. Bowie was also known as the chameleon of rock. Reid stated that he was the biggest inspiration for Lestat's performance, calling him an "alien, otherworldly" figure who became the blueprint for Lestat's performances.

However, this isn't the first time Sam Reid has taken David Bowie's name and how he got inspired through his performances. During New York Comic Con, the actor revealed that Bowie's Cracked Actor tour played a big role in shaping his version of Lestat. Reid shared that watching rare bootleg footage of the tour helped him bring the vampire rock star to life.

At the same time, Reid made it clear he wasn't trying to copy Bowie's style or imitate him in any way. Rather, he took inspiration from the singer's "showmanship" and commanding stage presence to shape Lestat's persona.

Speaking of the experience of turning from a vampire to a modern rock star, Jacob Anderson described it as "insane." He said that this was a completely different experience after spending two seasons with a character. He further shared that performing the songs live felt right given the scenario and made everything feel more real. While he admitted that the acting can be scary and nerve-racking, he said he loves the challenge instead of avoiding it.

Jacob Anderson has been active in the industry for over a decade now and has also released many songs, including Love Is Dumb, Say What You Mean, and Aristocrats. Given his experience in the music industry, Reid was asked if the Interview with the Vampire star helped him with any tips and advice. Answering the question, Sam Reid shared that Jacob's only suggestion was to fill the recording room with plenty of rugs.

Adding to Reid's answer, Anderson joked that Persian rugs work well because they improve the sound and are also comfortable to lie on.

Interview with the Vampire Season 3, retitled The Vampire Lestat, premiered last month. The season consisted of a total of seven episodes, with the finale airing on July 19. Created by Rolin Jones, famous for Friday Night Lights and The Exorcist, the series, alongside Reid and Anderson, stars Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Assad Zaman as Armand/Rashid, and Delainey Hayles as Claudia/Regina.

Speaking about Interview with the Vampire Season 4, Rolin Jones said there is still a lot of story left to tell. He teased that many questions from Season 3 will be answered and that viewers will get a better picture of everything that happened. However, AMC+ has not yet renewed the series for another season as of now.
