Eddie Munson is one of the most memorable characters from Stranger Things. He carried long, curly hair, band tees, and a signature denim vest. Behind the metal-loving, loud exterior remained a kind heart and courage.

When Hawkins came under threat, Eddie proved himself braver than he ever believed he could be. He did not possess superpowers, but he had sheer, stubborn courage. He cracked jokes when things got bleak, looked out for the younger kids, and risked everything for people who once feared him.

We had to say a sad and tragic goodbye to him, but here are 3 clues that he might return in Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2.

3 Clues that prove Eddie's return in Stranger Things Season 5

The Duffer Brothers told The Empire, “Sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.” However, for a character as loved as Eddie, viewers continue to treat that as a challenge rather than a confirmation.

The devotion around Joseph Quinn’s character has only intensified in the lead-up to Season 5 as fans hunt for any clues pointing to his return.

1. Iron Maiden’s mascot parallels Eddie

Stranger Things Season 4’s eighth episode began with Eddie Munson holding Iron Maiden’s Peace of Mind album. It looked like a quirky nod to his metalhead personality.

But the band’s mascot, also named Eddie, looks uncannily similar to him, bearing his signature curly-haired appearance. It reflects his rebellious energy and an undead persistence.

Stranger Things rarely throws random visual clues without them carrying some meaning in the story, and its use of music often foreshadows arcs. Linking Eddie Munson to a mascot who never truly dies was subtle, but fans now read it as a deliberate breadcrumb.

2. The Kas theory fits Eddie too well to ignore

The show has always drawn inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons. Some of the parallels are immediately traceable. One of the deepest parallels revolves around Kas, who is a trusted warrior for Vecna.

However, Kas eventually turns against him. Fans have always noted how Eddie’s story aligns with this figure. For the show’s reliance on D&D lore to map character trajectories, the Kas prophecy has become the backbone of most “Eddie returns” theories.

Eddie succumbed while fighting dark forces sent by Vecna. Fans are debating if he can now return as an evolved version of Kas, who is stronger and more fierce.

3. Iron Maiden’s Hidden “Eddie Lives” Message Feels Like a Wink

Somewhere in Time, a 1986 album from Iron Maiden, gave a major clue. It includes graffiti reading “Eddie Lives.” With the show already tying Munson to the band visually, this small yet noticeable tease has already fired up return theories. It’s exactly the sort of Easter egg fans enjoy in blink-and-miss-it moments.

How did Eddie Munson die in Stranger Things?

In the Stranger Things 4 finale, Eddie and Dustin distract Vecna’s Demobats by performing “Master of Puppets” from the trailer roof. When he realizes the others need more time, Eddie cuts the escape rope, rides off to lure the bats away, and makes a final stand. The swarm overwhelms him, and he dies in Dustin’s arms.

Whether Eddie’s return will happen is yet to be seen in the next episodes of Stranger Things, but the story is already gearing up for a thrilling conclusion on December 31, 2025.
