It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 5, titled The Gang Goes to the Ren Faire, was all about advancing the storylines. The episode began with Mac showing the Quilt of Legends, and the gang joked about being on it.
As the episode progressed, they decided to go and undertake their own challenges. Frank wanted to buy the place, and Dee tried to drive a story, which she indeed did in the end.
The episode also includes a staring challenge and later horse jousting, with Dee saving Mac in the end. Dee was the reason everything came together, from fooling the king's men and taking Mac's place to setting up the whole conflict between Frank and the McPoyles. By the end, it was clear that she had a much bigger hand in the whole story!

Episode 5 begins with Mac showing the gang the Quilt of Legends, with the gang joking about being on it. On the other hand, Dee wants to drive a story and even gets a parking ticket validated, which Frank calls boring.
Later, a maiden winked at Dennis, and he decided to follow her. When he goes to the tent, he comes across Kevin, who asks him to solve a riddle, which Dennis successfully does. Later, Charlie comes back with a lute, and Dennis tells him about his experience.
After Dennis left, Kevin found him again and asked him to pay for being intimate with the maiden. Later, while Dennis is with another maiden, she starts crying and tells him that she is married and her husband injured his private area in a car accident.

In It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 5, Frank decides to buy the land so he can put up a data center and meets the king. However, the king doesn't want to sell it. After getting frustrated by the answer, Frank tells the king that he's got no honor. However, he is asked to best the king at the royal challenge, which turns out to be a staring contest.
The king eventually blinks and gets caught by Frank. He is then challenged to a joust on horseback, which Mac decided to take on. However, the king's people did not make the reward easy to obtain, as they demanded an eye as the prize for winning. And Frank eventually convinced Mac.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 5 recap: Is Dee successful in driving a story?
Throughout the episode, Dee comes up with different stories, but the gang keeps telling her that she is not driving it. Still, she remains motivated to come up with another story. As the challenge begins, everyone sees a man falling off the horse, which they suspect to be Mac. The king's people soon arrive at the area and take out an eye, which was initially thought to belong to Mac. However, it turns out to be Ryan.
All of this was thanks to Dee, as she tricked the king's men and replaced Mac. She was also behind the entire feud between Frank and the McPoyles. So she indeed drove the story in the end.
