It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 6, titled The War on Alcohol, was released on September 14. The gang, consisting of Dee, Dennis, Frank, Charlie, and Mac, decides to go separate ways in groups to explore blue-collar and white-collar work.

The episode starts with the gang arguing about drinking non-alcoholic beer and changing the workplace, which has turned mostly remote. Mac and Charlie decide to head into the blue-collar world, visiting a factory only to come across an ex-factory worker named Buck who gets badly injured while drinking and handling lava at the factory.

On the other hand, Dee, Dennis, and Frank enter the white-collar world to create an ad for their pub. However, both groups get distracted and cause trouble for others, proving they are not exactly built for working life.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 6 starts with the gang hanging out in Paddy's Pub as they taste non-alcoholic beer, without their knowledge. They learn that the beer is brewed locally in Philly and is made of natural ingredients and contains only eight calories, which impresses them.

However, as soon as they learn that it doesn't have alcohol content in it, they go into a state of disbelief and force the salesman to leave the pub. The episode shows the gang having one thing in common: all of them believe that alcohol joins people together, as they call it, society glue.

In It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 6, Frank comes up with the idea of recruiting some suits to come to Paddy's happy hour from the nearby building. On the other hand, Mac and Charlie decide to go to the factory and round up blue-collar workers.

In the end, Dennis, Dee, and Frank go to the office only to meet an intern, who says that the other employees are working from home, which is the reason why the office is so empty. Without wasting much time, Dennis, Dee, and Frank decide to come up with an ad for their business, and Frank says that people hate words, as ads are more about showing and not telling. Dee pitches the idea of the mascot, and the team comes up with the idea of a penguin wearing a tuxedo and a Rolex.

While Dee was super helpful to the team, she eventually becomes the secretary after Frank and Dennis vote against her. After hearing their decision, Dee leaves the room and blackmails the intern who is still in the office. When Frank and Dennis come out, they find everyone back in the office. Dee gets her revenge by putting Frank and Dennis at the center of the meeting. Dennis somehow manages to give the presentation before leaving, with Dee following shortly after.

Dennis, Dee, and Frank have very different ideas of office life, as they believe the old corporate world was all about drinking, smoking, and having a good time.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 6 recap: Do Charlie and Mac's ideas actually work?

As for Charlie and Mac, they find a guy in the factory who reveals that the manufacturing process has been automated, which is why there are no workers. The guy even automates their bar and loves the non-alcoholic beer. Throughout the episode, Mac and Charlie try to understand what they think a typical working life should look like, while their ideas keep clashing with reality.

As a last resort, Charlie and Mac find Buck, a former factory worker who was their last hope. In It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 6, the two decide to meet Buck and tell him about the factory. Buck shows them the facial scarring on his face, revealing that it happened because of the lava accident as he was drinking on the job, and it was his fault.

In the end, the gang comes back together, with Mac suggesting that they should adjust to the modern workplace instead of trying to bring back the old ways. They even manage to sell a large amount of beer through an automated system. Of course, even after everything they went through, the gang still doesn't really learn their lesson as they throw the non-alcoholic beer and decide to get real beer.
