Lanterns quietly hinted why Zoe might not be the only manhunter in Rushville

Only two episodes of Lanterns are left. As the end is near, fans continue to formulate theories about the DC HBO series. The one theory that fans continue to focus on is decoding the central mystery at the heart of the series: Who killed Hal Jordan? The first episode ended with the revelation that Green Lantern legend Jordan was mysteriously murdered in 2026.

The mystery of the Manhunters is tied to Hal Jordan's murder mystery. The fourth episode revealed that Poorna Jagannathan’s Zoe Macon is one of the Manhunters, synthetic beings created by the Guardians of Oa before they formed the Green Lantern Corps. Zoe survived the Guardians’ purge and Green Lantern Abin Sur’s capture, and lived in Rushville for decades.

However, John killed Zoe in the closing minutes of Lanterns Episode 5, but many believe that she is not the only Manhunter in the series.

Lanterns – Fans believe that Noah might be a Manhunter:

The fifth episode has a scene in which Zoe advises a young Noah (Cary Christopher). Earlier in the same episode, Kerry Kane had informed Hal Jordan that Zoe gave her a “miracle”. These two particular scenes have fans theorizing that Noah is a part-Manhunter.

For now, convoluted fan theories range from Hal not being really dead to Noah or Kerry killing Hal Jordan. But fans theorize one thing about Noah: he could be a Manhunter who retains some human qualities such as the ability to age. A redditor called “jackfaire” put forth a Lanterns theory stating that Zoe was trying to create more Manhunters:

“I don't think Kerry meant regrowing her finger when she said Zoe had given her a miracle. I think that Noah is a Manhunter. One that can grow and age. I think Zoe was trying to create more Manhunters.”

Another theory stated that Kerry probably killed Hal to protect her son:

Another user replied to this theory asking why she would call John after killing Hal. To this, another user responded saying that Kerry is setting up John.

What happened in episode 6?

The sixth episode of the DCU HBO series reintroduced us to Rushville a decade after the destruction which was depicted in the fifth episode. Hal is solely held responsible for the destruction and sent to prison. John has a contentious encounter with Hal, and just some time later, he is informed that Jordan is dead.

John returns to Rushville to bury Hal, but there is more to his motives apart from giving his former mentor a funeral. They bury Hal in his superhero suit, and more importantly, with his decommissioned Green Lantern ring. The same night, John digs up Hal Jordan’s grave, takes the ring, and summons its backup consciousness, which also looks like Hal.

Tonight’s episode will focus on John collaborating with the backup consciousness to solve Hal’s murder.
