Calvino and Walker then meet Alexander's wife. She reveals that they have been married for 32 years. She also told them that Alexander said that he would be late the previous night, so she went to bed around 10:30 PM. She also informs them that Alexander is the executive editor of the New York Ledger's news division. Calvino and Walker visit the New York Ledger office, and they meet Daniella, the new executive editor. She told Calvino and Walker that Cynthia Morrow had asked her to cover in Alex's absence.

Daniella asks them to talk to a senior reporter, Marc Lancer, who told them that Alexander was in Rambles to meet a source. Marc tells them that Alexander was working on an exposé story on Zane, the owner of The Yellow Taxi Company. Zane apparently sent Alexander threats. Calvino and Walker interrogate Zane, but his alibi did not check out, and his DNA was also not a match.

They also found out about Peter Glaser, Alexander's colleague, who got fired a week ago. Peter told Calvino and Walker that he didn't like Alexander, but he didn't kill him. He claimed he refused to side with Alex's liberal politics, and Alex got him fired. He also said that Mason Croft, a billionaire, is his friend, and he made Peter the editor-in-chief of The Nation Tonight, and that's why he was calling Alex on his phone. However, he shared that the night Alex was murdered, he had dinner with Cynthia Morrow.

The CCTV footage showed Cynthia and Alex arguing. Cynthia told Alex to cut down costs and use AI to originate articles, and it made him furious. Through the CCTV footage, they also found out that Alex was being followed by Tanner Hunt, the guy running for Senate in South Carolina. The Ledger was working on a profile of him. Tanner said that he was meeting with a reporter, and Calvino guessed it was Marc. Marc's DNA was a match.
