Law & Order Season 26 Episode 4 recap: The shocking death of Andrew Carson

The woman tells Walker and Calvino that Andrew organized the auctions and was the head of antiquities. She praises Andrew for scoring unbelievable items. She also gives them information about Andrew's personal life. She says that Andrew was late to the auction because he was stuck on a call.
Later, they come to know that the call that Andrew received at the auction might have been from the Manhattan DA's office. The employee at the DA Antiquities Trafficking Unit said that he received a complaint about a 6th-century Buddha that was about to go for auction. The Buddha was apparently looted from Afghanistan twenty-five years ago by the Taliban.
The employee said that the complaint came from a man named Abdul-Ahad Farhadi, a conservator and professor who seemed quite angry over the phone. Farhadi said that anyone selling the Buddha idol is conspiring with the Taliban and should be held accountable. During the interrogation, Farhadi claimed that he did not kill Andrew Carson and that he went to confront him, as seen in the surveillance footage.

Big Switty also has pivotal information about Andrew's girlfriend, Lucy Butler.
After speaking to Lucy, Walker and Calvino find out that Andrew apparently cheated on Lucy with his ex-wife. However, Andrew denied it, saying they met to discuss legal matters. Andrew's ex-wife told the cops that she met Andrew to talk about her book. However, he cheated on her during a chemotherapy session.
Calvino and Walker arrested Caroline Sanders, Andrew's ex-wife, after they gathered enough evidence. The DNA reports were also a match. However, they did not find a strong motive. At the trial, the defense argued that Caroline Sanders murdered Andrew Carson because he was apparently planning to kill the embryo. The defense said it was a defense of others. The defense tried to use religion to defend Caroline.
Maroun argued that allowing the defense would contradict New York case law and also that it would be a dangerous precedent that could be used to impede abortion rights and compromise IVF access. The defense argued that the New York state law did not apply to Pennsylvania, where the embryos were stored, and killing the embryo could be deemed a homicide. The judge says that the Pennsylvania law allows Caroline to use her justification defense. Price and Maroun are left in shock.
