NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 Episode 17 features Octavio Pisano's Detective Joe Velasco and a bunch of guest stars. Apart from that, Captain Benson's adopted son, Noah, also makes an appearance.

Titled, Deep Under, Episode 17 plunges Detective Velasco into a dangerous situation that involves drug cartels, human trafficking rings, and more. Detective Velasco teams up with the DEA to go undercover as a human trafficking agent to expose a drug cartel and its illegal activities. When the SVU team receives a tip from the Anti-Crime department, they almost blow Velasco’s cover. But he managed to keep it intact. Turns out, the drug cartel is run by Chiquito; he has entrusted his cousin Arturo to expand operations on the East Coast. Benson orders Finn to find out more about Valesco and his association with the cartel. Finn discovers that Valesco is in a relationship with Arturo's partner Eliana, and this makes the situation even more complex.

Valesco gives the SVU team a tip, but it turns out to be a fake tip planted by Arturo to expose the snitch in his team. Arturo initially thinks it's Eliana before Valesco reveals his true identity. Arturo tries to shoot them, and Finn hits him with his car. In the end, Arturo gets arrested, and Eliana receives witness protection. Valesco is taken to the hospital, and he recovers from his injuries eventually. However, it seems like he's on the verge of losing his job.

Later, during the face-off between Arturo and Valesco, he arrives at the right time and injures Arturo with the car, preventing him from causing harm.

Octavio Pisano returns as Detective Joe Velasco
