The promo of Episode 2 opens with Captain Benson describing the victim's condition. She says that the victim has PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Benson also adds that the victim was brutally terrorized and brainwashed.

According to Mayo Clinic, PTSD is a mental health condition that usually develops from an extremely stressful or terrifying event. The symptoms might include severe anxiety, nightmares and flashbacks.

As Captain Benson describes the victim, the promo features a girl in handcuffs appearing agitated and distressed. Benson warns that there could be more victims like her, and she might be the only way to get to the culprits. The team springs into action. The promo, however, doesn't show how the team gets hold of the victim. However, according to the synopsis, when Captain Curry's son gets abducted from a carnival, the team starts to investigate. They uncover a chilling connection to a past abduction and a series of tragic events.

Season 27 introduced Curry's son, Gabe, to the viewers. Jay Mack played Gabe Curry in the Season 27 episode. In the episode's cold open, Gabe and his friends went for thrift hauls, and one of the girls found a retro cassette tape.
