Legacy of Spies adaptation cast: Meet the stars of Charlie Hunnam thriller in stunning sneak peek

BBC and MGM+ have released the first look at Legacy of Spies. The first look images by BBC feature Charlie Hunnam as Alec Leamas and Matthew Macfadyen as George Smiley in a serious light. The series follows a Cold War spy caught between secret missions and shifting loyalties.

As per the description given on the Amazon MGM Studios site, viewers will see Alec Leamas bringing in East German woman Doris Quinz to smuggle secret Stasi documents into the West. However, Josef Fiedler and Hans-Dieter Mundt soon begin to track them down after they get on their radar. On the other hand, Liz Gold finds herself in the middle of the conflict, thanks to her connection to Leamas.

1) Charlie Hunnam as Alec Leamas

Primetime Emmy-nominated actor Charlie Hunnam will play Alec Leamas. Hunnam's other famous works include Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim, Monster, and Shantaram.

His character, Alec Leamas, is a skilled field operative who brings Doris into a mission to take the secret Stasi files to the West. In the first exclusive look, Charlie Hunnam's character, Alec Leamas, is seen looking towards his left, all focused, while standing under a bright blue neon sign at night.

2) Matthew Macfadyen as George Smiley

Three-time BAFTA winner Matthew Macfadyen is joining the series as George Smiley. Macfadyen is famous for his roles in Succession, Pride & Prejudice, and The Three Musketeers.

Smiley is a smart but quiet spymaster who works behind the scenes and helps guide the secret operations. The BBC's exclusive sneak peek offers a first look at George Smiley, who seems all serious and deep in thought in the image released.

3) Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu as Doris Quinz

Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu, famous for The Empress, Hysteria, and Lady Nazca, will appear as Doris Quinz in Legacy of Spies.

Her character, Quinz, helps Leamas with the secret mission using her skills to secretly move the Stasi files. She is a young East German woman at the center of the operation.

4) Daniel Brühl as Josef Fiedler

The BAFTA Award nominee, Daniel Brühl, is known for his roles in Inglourious Basterds, Captain America: Civil War, Goodbye Lenin!, and The Franchise. In Legacy of Spies, he will play the character Josef Fiedler.

Brühl's character, Josef Fiedler, is a Stasi agent who is determined to stop the secret information from getting out. At the same time, he is also trying his best to stay ahead of the people he is up against.

5) Felix Kammerer as Hans-Dieter Mundt

Frankenstein star Felix Kammerer will appear as Hans-Dieter Mundt in the upcoming series. His other famous works include All Quiet on the Western Front, Eden, and Pagan Peak.

His character, Hans-Dieter Mundt, is a feared Stasi officer who can be ruthless when dealing with anyone who gets in his way.

6) Agnes O'Casey as Liz Gold

Agnes O'Casey, famous for Lies We Tell, Small Things Like These, and Black Doves, will play Liz Gold in Legacy of Spies.

She is a young woman who has strong beliefs and is not afraid to stand up for them. However, her life takes a turn when she gets caught up in a world of secrets, spies, and lies through her connection with Leamas.
